Natasha joins in chapter 5 as a level 1 Cleric with a base D rank in staves. Having a D rank prevents her from using staves like Barrier, but it allows her to use Torch, Mend and Heal.
Natasha is a support unit first and foremost, since she is a healer. However, she has many issues that hold her back. First of all, she is underleveled; being a level 1 unit in chapter 5 is detrimental, since it puts her further away from promotion. It is especially problematic considering she relies on staves to gain experience, because she cannot fight. The experience gained from staves is very low, and Natasha has nine levels to gain, so unless the player uses her very extensively, it will take a long time before she can promote.
Another issue Natasha has is her unfavorable comparison to Moulder. Despite joining three chapters later than Moulder, her base level is lower than his, her durability is worse, and her staff rank is one lower at D in comparison to Moulder's C. This puts her further away from using better staves, further away from promotion, and makes it more difficult for her to reach her potential, since she has less time to do so in the main story - unless the player is willing to grind to bring her up to par.
Natasha has to compete with Artur, Lute and Moulder for her promotion, which requires a Guiding Ring. She is arguably in the worst position among these four units. Artur can reach the required promotion level earlier, so he can use the item more quickly. Lute stands to gain the most, since she will gain access to staves and a mount if she promotes to Mage Knight. Moulder and Natasha's promotion gains are the same if they promote to Bishop, but Moulder can reach the required level earlier than Natasha thanks to his higher base level, and the ability to use better staves at base level, which slightly increases his experience gain. Natasha really needs to promote to Bishop if she wants any hope of using A rank staves, since getting a unit from D to A rank is much harder than getting a unit from C to B rank and then promoting to Bishop for A rank, like it is in Moulder's case.
Natasha's unique advantage over Moulder is her alternate promotion choice; instead of a Sage, she can promote into a Valkyrie, which gives her a mount and access to D rank light magic. However, this is not a unique niche. While L'Arachel joins much earlier, she is a mounted staff user with no investment, although she can only use D rank staves. Lute's promotion to Mage Knight also gives her D rank staves and a mount, making her a mounted staff user. Lute joins earlier than Natasha and can gain levels faster, since she is a combat unit, so she will be able to access Mage Knight quickly with some investment. L'Arachel, on the other hand, has both mount and staff utility from the get go, not only staff utility like Natasha does.
Considering all this, Natasha compares unfavorably to most other units in the game, especially other units who can also use staves. She requires more investment than them to be a good support unit, and while she can still contribute early by healing and using the Torch staff, most players will deploy other support units instead of her.

Natasha (Japanese: ナターシャ Natasha) is a cleric who appears in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. She was a cleric in Grado's Imperial Temple until Emperor Vigarde silenced one of the temple's leaders. Branded a traitor, Natasha fled the temple in an effort to tell someone outside the empire what she knew about Vigarde's intentions.
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
Role
Natasha first appears in Chapter 5, trying to evade the Grado army in Serafew. She bumps into Joshua, who remarks that she looks flustered, she attempts to tell Joshua about the dark events concerning prince Lyon, but he states that it is not his problem. Some Grado soldiers find her and order her to surrender, but she protests, trying to convince the soldiers that the emperor is not himself. Eirika appears, confused as to why a cleric would betray the throne of Grado. Natasha takes the opportunity to run to Eirika to inform her of her burden of knowledge. However, Eirika tells her to wait until the battle has ended. During the battle, Natasha can recruit Joshua by speaking to him. Afterwards, Natasha shares her story of Vigarde change of character and his intention to destroy the Sacred Stones. Following this encounter, Natasha joins Eirika's party and travels with her for the rest of the game.
Despite her seemingly important expository role and Natasha's very early detection and foreshadowing of the mysterious happenings in Grado, her character disappears for the rest of the game in terms of story dialogue. However, this is not uncommon in the series as a whole when it comes to characterization, with any further story revelations only coming in her support conversations. She learns the true nature of the events from Knoll in their support conversations.

Personality and Character
Natasha is an honorable cleric. No matter the situation, she cares first and foremost for the well-being of others. On the battlefield, she is often the first healer to arrive to aid the wounded. In doing so, she sometimes forgets to analyze her surroundings, and gets in trouble more often than she should. She is humble, thinking nothing of the healing work that she does, only that it is her duty to protect others. She is supportive of her friends, no matter their background or home country, and strives to learn about the struggles of her own country so that she can better lend herself to help.
In her interactions with other people, she is generally shy at first, but easily warms up to conversation. Though she is a servant of the church, she stretches her bounds, participating in bets with Joshua and conversing with Knoll about top secret Grado information. She is very sweet, praising Franz for his pure heart and his handiness, and helping Cormag with an injured kitten. Both Cormag and Joshua remark that she has a nice smile.
Natasha says that she was born in a village near the border of Grado and Renais, and that she was always worried about the safety of that village. At some point in time, she elected to serve Grado's Imperial Temple, where she had a mentor she admired. She admits to seeing the mages (Specifically speaking to Knoll, implying the particular division of mages were actually shamans) of the temple, but not associating much with them, as they and the clerics differ in philosophy. Eventually, Vigarde came to the temple and had Natasha's mentor killed for blasphemy. Natasha then fled, and ended up in Serafew, where she met Eirika.
