Gungnir (グングニル) is the lance once wielded by Dain of the Twelve Crusaders, bestowed upon him at the Miracle of Darna after his blood-bond with a dragon. The lance is the property of Dain's descendants, the royal family of the Kingdom of Thracia, and is restricted in use to those in possession of major Dain Holy Blood.
The lance eventually comes into the possession of King Trabant, who wields it first in his murder of Cuan and Ethlin as they pass through the Yied Desert, and later when confronted by Seliph's liberation army in Thracia itself. After his death, it was obtained by his son Areone, who uses it first to continue his father's work in opposition of Seliph's forces before being convinced by Altenna to, during Seliph's march on Grandbell, support Seliph's cause.
Millennia later, Gungnir comes into the possession of the Gimle Cult, and is given to its reincarnation of the Dark Warlord Sieben. By this point, it is no longer sealed to the Dain bloodline and is capable of being used by any axe-wielder of reasonable skill.
Along with the Swanchika, Thor Hammer and Falaflame, Gungnir is one of the Crusader weapons completely inaccessible and unusable to the player in Seisen no Keifu; no bearer of Dain holy blood of any level is playable. It was not until Awakening that it became a playable weapon.
