The Vulnerary (Japanese: 傷薬 Ointment) is a basic and common healing item which first appeared Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, and is available in all subsequent games except Fire Emblem Gaiden and its remake Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, as well as Genealogy of the Holy War. When used, Vulneraries heal injured units by a relatively small amount, usually ten hit points of damage; this makes them more effective earlier in the game, before units have had an opportunity to level up and achieve higher amounts of maximum HP. An exception to this is the Vulneraries of Thracia 776, which instead restore all HP to a unit, acting more like the Elixir of other games.
Fairly cheap and with at least three uses, Vulneraries are valuable assets at the beginning of the game, when the player usually does not have access to a healer. In most games, many playable units will also already be carrying a Vulnerary in their inventory when they join the player's party, making Vulneraries even more easily accessible.

Transfer data | After receiving the data for a 60-use version of the Vulnerary from a Monthly Nintendo demo machine in June 2003JP[1], transfer it into a savefile through the Transfer Data menu. Only one can be transferred per save file, and the transfer can only be done from Chapter 12 onward. The 60-use version of the Vulnerary could also obtained by winning a competition held by V-Jump Magazine and receiving a cartridge with the item already downloaded. This 60-use version of the Vulnerary is an unused item in international versions of the game. |
