Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

The Master Crown (Japanese: マスタークラウン Master Crown) is a promotion item exclusive to Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. The Master Crown serves to promote units in second-tier classes to their third-tier class. In the Japanese version, this serves as the only means of reaching the third-tier class; international versions allow characters in second-tier classes to reach third-tier upon reaching level 21, but retain the Master Crown as an option.

Not every unit can use a Master Crown: Micaiah, Sothe, and Ike reach their third-tier classes in scripted events in Part 4, whereas Mist can (and, in the Japanese version, must) use her own special item, the Holy Crown.

Trivia

  • Three of the five Master Crowns found as hidden treasure in Part IV (one each in the Prologue and Chapters 1 and 2) in the Japanese version were changed to Arms Scrolls in the Western version of the game; the other two Master Crowns (one each from the Prologue and Chapter 2) were removed. Additionally, in the Japanese version of the game, any playable unit is guaranteed to pick up these five Master Crowns on their first try.
  • In the Japanese version, there are two Master Crowns added to the supply convoy in Part III, Chapter 11. They are never brought to the player's attention and simply appear there without notice. These were removed in the Western version.
