— Seliph, to Levn

Seliph Baldos Chalphy[1] (セリス, Serisu, translated in Fire Emblem Treasure as Seliph) is the son of the late Sigurd and Diadora, heir to the former dukedom of Chalphy, and the half-brother of Imperial Prince Yurius and Princess Yuria of the Grandbell empire. Born in Agustria in the year 759 during its occupation by the Grandbell forces led by his father, he was sent into hiding in the ouskirts of Isaac for his own protection, taken by Oifey and Prince Shanan, along with Lakche, Skasaher and Delmud. There, he lived in hiding in the village of Tilnanogue for seventeen years, raised by Adean - who acted as a surrogate mother - and Oifey, and taught martial arts by Shanan.

As the years passed and Shanan began to organize a resistance army against the tyranny of the Grandbell Empire from Tilnanogue, Seliph's existence slowly became known to the people of Isaac and he became a figure of hope for the oppressed masses, dubbed the "Child of Light". This culminated in the year 777, when the Grandbell forces occupying Isaac learned of his existence and of his whereabouts and dispatched soldiers to Tilnanogue to subjugate it; in response, Seliph led a small group out to combat the occupation forces and from there, on the advice of Levn, leave Isaac to recruit more members for a liberation force, free the other nations of Jugdral from the tyranny of Grandbell, and ultimately take the fight back to Barhara.

Seliph is the lord character of the second generation of Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War, succeeding Sigurd and finishing what he started. He does appear in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, but only briefly and not in a playable capacity.

When troops of the Dozel occupation force were sighted approaching Tilnanogue from the northern Ganeishire castle, Seliph chose to reveal himself to the world by departing to protect the village, despite Skasaher's concern about the difficulty of doing so with Oifey and Shanan absent, and so he departed with Skasaher, Lakche and Lana, soon backed up with the arrival of Oifey, Lester and Delmud. Upon claiming Ganeishire and defeating its master, General Harold, Seliph encountered Levn, who entrusted him with Yuria before leaving for Lenster. From there, Seliph freed the rest of Isaac and killed King Danan, the appointed ruler of Isaac and the leader of the occupation of the country for the Grandbell Empire. Afterward, Levn returned from his work in Lenster, bringing news of the rise of scattered rebellions across Jugdral and encouraging Seliph to leave Isaac and form such a rebellion, citing him as a potential savior and the best hope the world has. While initially reluctant, Seliph accepted the duty.

From there, Seliph headed to the south through the Yied Desert to Lenster, to meet up with his cousin Prince Leaf and assist him in his own liberation army. On the way, they freed Darna and the Yied Shrine; in the former, Seliph learned of the Miracle of Darna from Levn, while at the Shrine he found the remnants of the descendants of the Lopt Empire, the Shrine's former occupants. From Darna, Seliph's forces entered the Manster District and, working with Leaf's group, defeated King Bloom of Freege and conquered Alster, freeing the north of the Thracian peninsula.

Role

At the end of Freege's six month long siege of Castle Lenster following Leaf's recapture of it, Seliph's army launched an assault on Castle Alster, causing the Freege forces to retreat to reinforce their headquarters. Delmud arrived in Lenster as a messenger to Leaf from Seliph, informing Leaf that Seliph intended to claim Alster in only a few days. Leaf departed Lenster to back Seliph up, but by the time he got to Alster, Seliph's forces had already conquered it, and there Leaf met Seliph, Levn and Yuria for the first time. In their brief meeting, it was decided that Seliph's forces would proceed to assault Conote while Leaf's would take Manster, where the two groups would later meet up.

After the fall of Manster and the deaths of Leidrik and Veld, Leaf received word from Fin that Conote had fallen to Seliph's forces, and soon after Seliph himself arrived in Manster to congratulate Leaf for his victory. Seliph told Leaf that from there, Northern Thracia would unite into a single country under Leaf, and invited Leaf to continue to assist him in the liberation of Jugdral. The two then pledged to each other their lifelong friendship and brotherhood, like their fathers before them.[2]

Fire Emblem Awakening

Seliph appears as an enemy in the DLC chapters "Another Story: Spirit Talisman 2" and "Another Story: King vs King (Emblem Chapter)". His appearance here indicates that he will be released as a playable character via SpotPass in the future.

Endings

Seisen no Keifu

As for the Kingdom of Grandbell’s Barhara Dynasty, Imperial Prince Seliph, thanks to the overwhelming support of the people, was officially hailed as King.
Seliph, who became a King, poured his strength into the reconstruction of the country and the peace of the Continent, and aimed at the realization of a wealthy world, free of discrimination and of domination.
And, at his side, there is the presence of
His Queen, <wife>, who always stay close to him and smile at him,
The Imperial Princess Yuria, who’s watching over him warmly.
In the future, people will say
That there was a Holy King in Grandbell’s history,
And whose name was... Seliph.

Seliph

Preliminary official name by Nintendo of America, used for their piece on the history of the Fire Emblem series in their Blazing Sword mini site in 2003.[4] It originated from a translation in the August 1996 issue (#87) of Nintendo Power magazine advertising Seisen no Keifu. [5]Obscure for a long time, it was brought to wider attention when the Seisen no Keifu fan translation was revised to adopt the name (along with other updates) to bring the game in line with English terminology.

English
(unofficial)

• Seliph
• Seris

• The most common fan name for the character.
• A more literal transliteration used before the Fire Emblem: Treasure artbook provided the name "Seliph".

Seliph: No, you liberated Northern Thracia on your own, prince. I did nothing. Northern Thracia will now unite into a single nation under you. It would be our dream come true if such a large and rich nation were to help fight against the Empire. Lord Leaf, I wish to ask you to continue to help us in our struggle. We still have many things to do, and many hardships to overcome. But I believe that together, we would be able to triumph over anything. I want to pledge an oath with you to be lifelong friends, like our fathers before us.
Leaf: Yes! I always thought of you as an older brother. It would be an honor to be able to support you, Lord Seliph.
Seliph: Good! Then let us swear by this blade. When we were born was different, but when we die will be the same. Together, as comrades, brothers, and friends forever...let us swear to join hands and stand up to save this world from evil!
