Afterwards, Fir continues her travels to the Western Isles, where her parents first met. However, during her stay there, Roy's army arrives at the town to drive off the bandits terrorizing the area, the leader being Scott, who had apparently treated Fir kindly. When the army defeats most of the bandits, Scott tells Fir that the Western Isles is under attack by a group of brigands (Who are actually the army), and that he needs her and the nomad Sin to drive them off. Fir agrees to contribute, but it turns out she was deceived; the only reason Scott treated her so nicely was so that he could steal the rare katana Wo Dao from her for gold. So he sends out one of his goons to stay nearby her to take her sword once she dies. However, in the midst of the conflict, Fir reunites with Noah, but she angrily attacks him, as she believes that Noah is working with the bandits attacking the town.<ref>{{Cite|Noah: What are you thinking?! For a unit joining in Chapter 9, Fir is severely underleveled – she joins at level 1 with base stats that are not exceptional. She can survive a hit, faces low hitrates, and doubles enemies reliably. It is easy to train her in her joining chapter, but it requires slowing down. A trained Fir, much like Rutger, can accurately hit and double enemies. She also has a high critical hit chance after promotion, since Swordmasters receive a passive +30% crit chance bonus. This combination of factors makes Fir a good unit once trained, since most units in The Binding Blade struggle with low hitrates and the inability to double, especially on Hard Mode. She may not be able to one-round unless she gets strength-blessed because of her bad strength growth, but she will at least reliably hit them. With critical attacks and good weapons, she may reach one-rounding territory. While her starting D rank in swords prevents her from using the Killing Edge at base (which requires a C rank) to compensate for her low strength, she compensates by starting with the Wo Dao, which is light enough that it doesn't slow her down and has an excellent +40% crit chance bonus. However, it only has 20 uses before it breaks, and another one won't be found until late in the game. Furthermore, Rutger can also wield it as well.
However, Fir has several disadvantages even outside her need for investment. | However, Fir has several disadvantages even outside her need for investment. Her mobility is lackluster compared to mounted units, so she can fall behind without rescue-drops. Furthermore, it can be difficult to justify promoting her when there are so many Hero Crest candidates in the army, including Dieck, Lot, Ward, Geese, Gonzalez and Rutger. While a trained Fir might be better than most of these units, the fact she must be trained from scratch and that she joins underleveled is to her detriment. She never quite catches up with the player's other combat units before promotion.
Overall, Fir is a solid growth unit that is easy to train in her joining chapter. Once trained, she offers similar advantages as Rutger, being an accurate 1-range combat unit that doubles reliably and can potentially one-round with critical hits. However, if left untrained and without investment, Fir is entirely useless. | Overall, Fir is a solid growth unit that is easy to train in her joining chapter. ====Comparison with Rutger==== | ====Comparison with Rutger====
Compared to Rutger, Fir has the flaw of joining later and will be three levels lower than him in terms of joining time, but she comes with a Wo Dao, her sword that can strike at a higher chance for a critical hit than Rutger's Killing Edge and only myrmidons can wield it. In addition, Rutger has | Compared to Rutger, Fir has the flaw of joining later and will be three levels lower than him in terms of joining time, but she comes with a Wo Dao, her sword that can strike at a higher chance for a critical hit than Rutger's Killing Edge and only myrmidons can wield it. In addition, Rutger has a higher rank in swords than Fir, allowing him to use high-level swords earlier than her, including the aforementioned Killing Edge. When it comes to the legendary S-ranked Durandal, Rutger will likely be able to wield it earlier than Fir, who is weighed down by that. In addition, Fir's constitution is lower at 5, compared to his constitution of 7, so she will be weighed down more by anything heavier than an Iron Sword, preventing her from doubling enemies with strong weapons, but a Body Ring can mitigate this flaw to make it on par with Rutger, and there are few other units who would want one.
In terms of stat growths, assuming that both of them are at the same level, Fir tends to be very slightly faster in speed than Rutger due to having a slightly higher speed growth and | In terms of stat growths, assuming that both of them are at the same level, Fir tends to be very slightly faster in speed than Rutger due to having a slightly higher speed growth and higher luck than him, although almost all other stats (with the exception of Resistance) are a bit lower than him. Additionally, Rutger will most likely be at a higher level and promoted by the time Fir joins the army, so he will be ahead of her in all stats for a while.

Although Fir is clearly skilled with the blade, outside of battle, she does seem to be a little nervous whenever she socializes with other people. For an example, back at the Western Isles, when Fir is sent out to kill the "pirates" invading the town, she is accompanied by Sin, and she tries to hold up a conversation with him. However, she seems somewhat nervous at the time, especially when Sin claims that he couldn't care less for the well being of the civilians of the Western Isles, and that he is just in it for the money.<ref>{{Cite|Fir: Um...<br>Sin: What?<br>Fir: Um, did you also join the fight to protect the people living here?<br>Sin: No... Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade
Role
After the death of Fir's mother Karla, who died of an illness, Fir set out to travel the world in order to hone her skills in swordfighting. She later ends up arriving in an arena in Ostia, where she meets the Ilian cavalier Noah. He coaches Fir on the rules of the arena, such as picking an opponent and knowing when to surrender a fight,[1] and they both end up becoming good friends.[2]
However, in the midst of the conflict, Fir reunites with Noah, but she angrily attacks him, as she believes that Noah is working with the bandits attacking the town.[3] He then explains to her how the situation as she sees it is the other way around, and that Roy's army is, in fact, the one fighting the brigand forces (Upon hearing this, the bandit hiding close to Fir retreats). Afterwards, Noah invites her into the army, and Fir joins.[4]
Later, during the siege of Castle Idina located on the Caldonia island (If the player chooses route B on the Western Isles), Fir can talk to her father, Bartre, who appears on the battlefield along with two other fighters. Bartre tells her that he was worried about her and looked everywhere for her, and now that he has, he says that he would assist Fir on her journey. Although a little reluctant at first, Fir agrees to have him join.[5]
After the war finally ended, Fir continued to travel around the world, training herself in mastering the sword. As a result of her travelling, her name and legacy as a great swordmaster reached the recognition of many across Elibe. In addition to that, Fir's legends were also passed down in history as the Sword Saint, a title originally granted by Guy and Karel.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
For a unit joining in Chapter 9, Fir is severely underleveled – she joins at level 1 with base stats that are not exceptional. However, her base stats are good for her level and she is a sword user in a chapter filled with enemy axe users, making her easy to train. She can survive a hit, faces low hitrates, and doubles enemies reliably. She also benefits from Hard Mode bonuses, which give her respectable base stats.
The main question about Fir is whether the player wants to train her.
Comparison with Rutger
Compared to Rutger, Fir has the flaw of joining later and will be three levels lower than him in terms of joining time, but she comes with a Wo Dao, her sword that can strike at a higher chance for a critical hit than Rutger's Killing Edge and only myrmidons can wield it.
In terms of stat growths, assuming that both of them are at the same level, Fir tends to be very slightly faster in speed than Rutger due to having a slightly higher speed growth and higher luck than him, although almost all other stats (with the exception of Resistance) are a bit lower than him. Additionally, Rutger will most likely be at a higher level and promoted by the time Fir joins the army, so he will be ahead of her in all stats for a while.

Personality
Fir is a very confident and determined swordfighter, and she longs to master her skills with the blade by travelling across the continent of Elibe. She would often try to get other fighters to spar with her, including Noah and Rutger, although sometimes to no avail, particularly in Rutger's case.[7] Fir claims that she wants to master swordfighting like her mother Karla, the famous Sword Princess, did, before she had died from an illness. However, her father Bartre also theorizes that one of the main reasons she took up swordfighting was to get her mind off her mother's death[8] Like her mother did, she had won many battles in arenas across the continent, which was exactly what Karla was famous for.[9] As a result of Karla's influence on Fir's swordsmanship, Fir longs to learn "the way of the sword," as seen in her support conversations with her uncle Karel, who is widely known as the Sword Saint, and formerly, the Sword Demon. In response, Karel tells her that the path is not something that can be taught, and also that she must "cut open" the path herself.[10] After the war, her efforts pay off, and Fir turns out to be an incredible swordfighter. She also ended up inheriting the title of the Sword Saint, a title that was originally granted to Guy and Karel.
However, she seems somewhat nervous at the time, especially when Sin claims that he couldn't care less for the well being of the civilians of the Western Isles, and that he is just in it for the money.[11] In addition to that, as well as Noah fell in love with Fir at first sight, she appears to be interested in him as well. As a result, she becomes quite overwrought whenever she talks or is around him.[12] This even has an effect on her fighting, as shown when she loses her focus and trips when she spars with Noah in their support conversations.[13]

Noah: No problem. But I must say you surprised me. You suddenly came up to me and said, "I want to fight a match with you!"
Fir: I-I'm sorry, Sir Noah. It was my first time in the arena...
Noah: If you asked another person, you would have been killed. You need to look your opponent over very carefully before choosing to fight.
Fir: And you must not hesitate to surrender if it looks like you're going to lose. Right?
Noah: Exactly. You can always win back your money, but if you lose your life, it's all over.
Fir: Yes!" — Fir and Noah in Chapter 7, Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade - ↑ "Noah: All you were saying at first was, "I want to become strong, I want to become strong," right? So I thought swordplay was all you had interest in. But you were training because you wanted to be like your mother? I'm so happy that you do have a cute side!
Fir: What?... Sir Noah! Please don't tease me!
Noah: Hahahaha!" — Noah and Fir in Chapter 7, Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade - ↑ "Noah: What are you thinking?! Put away your sword!
Fir: Sir Noah! I thought you were nobler than this!
Noah: What?
Fir: Just because you're a mercenary knight... Lending your service to pirates?! You should be ashamed!
Noah: ... Huh?
Fir: Don't play dumb! You're working with a band of pirates to attack the people living on this island! And you call yourself a knight?!
Noah: Um, can I have a sec? I think there's a really big misunderstanding..." — Noah and Fir in Chapter 9, Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade - ↑ "Fir: ... I was lending my service to pirates... What can I do now?
Noah: Then you want to come along with us?

Noah: We're always looking for more people to strengthen our army. I'll talk to Roy about it.
Fir: Thank you!" — Fir and Noah in Chapter 9, Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade - ↑ "Fir: But Father, if you kept helping me, there would be no point to my training.
Bartre: Nonsense. Would you not be able to train your sword skills with your father around? Or do you not understand your Father's love for worrying about you like this?
Fir: No! That's not it...

She lost her mother at such a young age...
Bartre: Yes... Maybe... Maybe the reason she left home to train herself was that she wanted to get her mind off of her mother's death.
