This is a list of Trial Maps in Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade. In The Binding Blade, Trial Maps are unlocked either by completing the game under certain conditions or through V-Jump download events. The player uses their army from completed saves to challenge the maps.

Note: For accuracy, some of the names used here may differ from those used in the most proliferated fan translation patch.

Normal Trial Maps

Trial Map 1

(Japanese: 必殺の谷 Valley of Death)
Unlock requirements:
Complete the game once

Roy receives a report of bandits in the mountains of northern Lycia. Masters of death-dealing blows await his army.
Playable units: Roy, plus any character in a given cleared save file Boss: Bandit
Victory conditions: Seize gate
Defeat conditions: Roy dies
Player: 10 * Enemy: 26 *


Trial Map 2

(Japanese: 豪雨の島 Rainy Island)
Unlock requirements:
Complete the game once

While marching through the Western Isles, Roy's army gets stuck in the rain. Enemies pounce from the mist.
Playable units: Roy, plus any character in a given cleared save file Boss: Western Pirate
Victory conditions: Survive for 20 turns
Defeat conditions: Roy dies

Trial Map 3

(Japanese: 雪の中の攻防戦 Snowy Defensive)
Unlock requirements:
Complete the game with the good ending once

Roy is awaiting the arrival of an allied army in an old Ilian castle when a surprise attack commences. Can Roy's army defend the castle until the allied army arrives?
Playable units: Roy, plus any character in a given cleared save file Boss: Fighter
Victory conditions: Survive for 20 turns; protect the castle
Defeat conditions: Roy dies; the castle is seized by the enemy
Player: 10 * Enemy: 25 *


Trial Map 4

(Japanese: 海賊の挑戦 Pirate's Challenge)
Unlock requirements:
Complete the game once with either ending in Hard Mode

Roy receives a letter from the boss of a group of bandits in the Western Isles. "It's time we settle this. Beat my men and I'll give you the honor of fighting me!"
Playable units: Roy, plus any character in a given cleared save file Boss: Fighter
Victory conditions: Rout enemy, then defeat boss
Defeat conditions: Roy dies

Trial Map 5

(Japanese: ロイの試練 Roy's Trial)
Unlock requirements:
Complete the game once with the good ending in Hard Mode

Roy falls into a trap in the Nabata desert and is separated from his soldiers. Bandits move in to strike. Can Roy survive this onslaught all by himself?
Playable units: Roy Boss: Bandit
Victory conditions: Rout enemy
Defeat conditions: Roy dies

Downloadable Trial Maps

These four maps are all associated with V-Jump Magazine contests run after The Binding Blade's release. All four maps have to be externally loaded manually into the game data, and do not actually exist in the game by default. As a result, combined with the very limited scope of the contest giveaways, little is known about them.

Promotional Trial Map 1

Unlock requirements:
Be one of 50 winners in a contest in V-Jump magazine
Based on a scene from Fire Emblem: Hasha no Tsurugi. This map is not programmed into the game by default, and little is known about it.

Promotional Trial Map 2

Exclusive characters

The following eight characters can be unlocked through repeated completion of the game for use in Trial Maps. They are not tied to any specific save file, rather appearing in the army of any cleared save file when in Battle Preparations for a Trial Map. With the exceptions of Hector, Eliwood and Guinivere, they come with the same items they used in their main story role, which can be traded to any other unit in the army.
