Beginning Log
The Caer Pelyn Range... According to Ewan, a little-known passage to Jehanna lies there, hidden within its cracked redbedrock and knife-edged peaks. To avoid Carcino and combat, Eirika's troops take the mountain path. They begin climbing higher and higher toward Caer Pelyn. Unbeknownst to the group, hordes of dark creatures now roam the peaks.

Trivia
- In the prototype this chapter's map was originally used for chapter 6. When chapter 6 was revamped with a new map the old map was used for this chapter instead.
- This chapter, alongside Phantom Ship, was possibly one of the last chapters added to the game in development, being the only two chapters completely absent from the prototype. This may also be the reason it does not have a corresponding world map location, instead occurring between locations, as the world map was already laid out in essentially its final form even in the very early prototype.
- This fact is also supported by the fact that Creeping Darkness and Phantom Ship are the only two chapters with their titles listed out of order, being at the end of the list, internally.
- The cutscene at the end of the chapter is the only instance in the Fire Emblem series where two red units engage each other in combat without one of them being driven berserk.
