Aias

Aias (Japanese: アイアス Aias) is a boss appearing in Eirika's route of Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. He is an old friend of Caellach and a mercenary working for the Grado Empire.

Role

Aias appears as the primary boss of chapter 13 of Eirika's route; he makes no appearances during Ephraim's route. While Eirika makes her way to Jehanna, Caellach tasks Aias with the interception of Renais's army. Caellach warns Aias that Rausten is sending reinforcements from the north, but reassures Aias that he will take care of them. Caellach also warns that Eirika supposedly killed Glen and that she is an opponent to be reckoned with.

Despite the later assistance of the chapter's secondary boss, Pablo, Aias is unsuccessful in defeating Eirika. He is either defeated by her forces or forced to flee from reinforcements from Rausten that Caellach apparently failed to stop.

If Aias flees at the end of the chapter, Caellach implies that he had never planned on distracting Rausten's reinforcements to any effective degree. Aias appears unsurprised as Caellach then tells him he wants no connections to his past as a Jehannan mercenary. Caellach then finishes Aias off and leaves to rejoin the Grado army.

Personality and character

Aias joined the Grado Empire at the behest of Caellach, though he has little personal investment in climbing the army's ranks. Aias appears to have heard Caellach's desire to become a king several times, but, like his lack of desire for Grado titles, does not appear to share Caellach's ambition of becoming a king. Aias's own lack of ambition may be why Caellach thought he was being held back by him and felt the need to eliminate him.

Aias is famous for apparently never losing a battle during his career as a mercenary. Because of this he is very confident on the field of battle. He is surprised if he is defeated by Eirika's forces and commends Renais's tactician.
