===Analysis=== | |||
{{analysis}} | |||
Diamant is an overall solid melee combatant. His HP, Strength, Speed, Defense and Build are all great, while his Magic, Resistance and Luck are predictably low for a unit of his archetype. Unfortunately, Diamant suffers from a case of skill issue, literally; his Dexterity quite bad and despite swords having good hit rate, he remains inconsistent at killing things due to substantial chance to miss his attacks. His personal skill, [[Fair Fight]] does somewhat alleviate this by patching up his hit rate on player phase if the enemy can counter; with Diamant's high bulk, he isn't particularly worried about dying to the counterattack, but his need for high-hit weapons for consistency means he uses lower-MT weapons that are unlikely to kill the enemy before they counter, effectively ensuring that Diamant will always eat a counterattack whenever he is sent to kill something. Additionally, Fair Fight doesn't work on enemy phase, limiting Diamant's usefulness there; while he is bulky enough to take hits on enemy phase, and after promoting gains access to physical 1-2 range, a lack of Fair Fight combined with his already bad hit rates makes enemy phasing with him a bit of a gamble on efficiency; he may hit the enemy back for good damage, or he can miss completely and take a bunch of damage with nothing to show for it, though regardless he is unlikely to die on enemy phase unless overextended.
Diamant would therefore otherwise be a mostly good unit. However, his biggest problem does not lie in himself, but in his competition. Diamant's "problem" is the existence of [[Kagetsu]], who joins three chapters after him... but blows his stats out of the water by a huge margin. Kagetsu is ostensibly Diamant but more accurate and faster, putting serious justification problems as to why to invest in Diamant and not Kagetsu. Diamant is nonetheless a solid unit, but unless the player wants several beefy melee fighters, they will likely ditch Diamant once Kagetsu joins.

Rising Power Diamant
As the new king of Brodia, Diamant ordered a halt to all invasions and worked to reform his people's attitudes on Elusia.
Some nobles resisted Diamant at first, but his vision for the future earned their favor. By exporting ore, Brodia was able to shift to a booming, trade-based economy.
Divine Dragon Alear & Rising Power Diamant
Alear became the new Divine Dragon Monarch. His/Her bonds with the rulers of each nation resulted in lasting peace.
Diamant claimed the Brodian throne and ushered in a new era of prosperity and peace. When his reign ended, he retired to a quiet life in the land of Lythos.

Battle quotes
“ | Roy: Oh, you're to be my opponent? Well then, I'd best not relax. Diamant: It pleases me that you would say so—I feel the same. It is my duty to show the Emblem entrusted to Brodia a spectacular fight! Roy: This will be quite the battle then. Come on, Diamant. Fight! |

“ | Diamant: Divine Dragon? Have you returned to us?! Alear: I'm not who you think I am. Please, think of me as a stranger when we fight. Diamant: I cannot fight you. I won't risk losing you again. It has been awful here since you died. I believed all along that the nations should stop squabbling and go back to the way we were! I beg you, please, guide us to unity once more. Alear: I'm sorry. Only the Divine Dragon of this world could have done that, but... I can still take on the burden of stopping this conflict through the battle you wish to avoid. Forgive me for fighting you! |
” | — Corrupted Diamant, against Alear in Fell Xenologue 3. |
