Awakening is the twenty-fourth chapter in Fire Emblem Awakening. Having witnessed Validar's hierophant become Grima, the Shepherds have come to Mount Prism so Chrom may perform the Awakening. Standing in their way is a single wave of Risen.
Plot
- Main article: Awakening (chapter)/Script
Chrom, Robin, Lissa, and Lucina have arrived at Mount Prism, which Lissa finds beautiful; Lucina states that Naga's power flows through every blade of grass in the area. Chrom notices something doesn't feel right, to which Robin states that the Shepherds must prepare for battle--Grima has sent his/her servants here, which Robin can sense and states they'll be in the area soon. Battle preparations take place at this point.
Once preparations are complete, Lucina asks how Risen could infilitrate this sacred place, to which Chrom states their power must be linked to Grima's and that they must destroy the Risen. The battle begins at this point. (Reinforcements begin to show up after two full turns of combat without warning.)
Once the battle ends, Chrom, Robin, Lissa, and Lucina walk into a room known as "The Table" within Mount Prism, to which Chrom notes that they've arrived at the altar and tells the others to wait where they stand--he'll be back. Lissa tells Chrom to be careful, to which Lucina tells her that they need to believe in him.
We cut to a shot of the Fire Emblem with all five Gemstones set therein, the Gemstones of which begin glowing as the scene progresses. Chrom calls out to Naga that he bears proof of their sacred covenant; in the name of the exalted blood, he asks Naga for her power--to baptize him in fire so he may become her true son. As Naga appears, the shot turns to her; as Chrom gets his first glimpse of Naga, he reacts to the pain, to which Lucina yells out in concern. Chrom says he's all right, to which Naga welcomes Chrom and reveals his heart has been tested and deemed worthy--cleansed in her fire, his desire has been proven to burn the stronger. Chrom asks Naga if she will grant him the power of a god in order to defeat Grima; Naga says she'll grant him her power, but tells Chrom to know that she is no god, to which Lucina reacts to how Naga is the divine dragon. Naga says that sons of man do name her a divine dragon, but also states she is no creator--she possesses powers of neither making nor unmaking, and neither does Grima. Neither Naga nor Grima have the power to destroy each other utterly, to which Chrom asks what power can Naga grant him; Naga states that, with her blessing, Chrom may draw forth Falchion's true might--the blade of the exalts shall again strike like the dragon's fang, to which Naga states that Chrom's strength will then be her equal. Chrom asks if such strength is not enough to destroy Grima, to which Naga confirms--Grima cannot be slain, sleep alone can be Chrom's victory just as his ancestor put Grima to sleep a millennium ago, but Grima must be weakened first. Only as the final blow can Naga's power be used to bind Grima's. Lissa asks if there's any way to destroy Grima for good; Naga reveals there is one power that could end Grima--his/her own. Frederick asks if Grima must kill himself/herself, to which Naga confirms--yet he/she would never do out of his/her own volition; Grima seeks only to add to his/her power and set ruin upon the world. Naga then asks Chrom to come with her, as there is little time; Chrom asks where Grima is now, to which Naga reveals a volcanic location to the west known as Origin Peak, that they shall find Grima there. At this point, Chrom's Falchion will become the Exalted Falchion.
Summary
The evil Robin has used [his/her] life force to resurrect Grima. To stop the dragon, Chrom must ascend Mount Prism, perform the Awakening, and win Naga's power.

Trivia
- During the Awakening, Naga, Lissa, and Frederick all repeatdly refer to Grima as male, regardless of Robin's gender, and in turn the hierophant who became Grima. In this exchange of dialogue, Naga is intending to hint toward a possible role Robin can undertake when fighting Grima, a hint that can be easily lost on players using a female Avatar due to the male-oriented wording of the dialogue.
