“ | That's the Brand of the Exalt... Lucina... You deserved better from me than one sword and a world of troubles. I'm sorry. | ” | — Chrom, when Lucina reveals her true identity |
---|
Of Sacred Blood (Japanese: 古き血脈 Ancient Bloodline) is the thirteenth chapter in Fire Emblem Awakening. In this chapter, while in Plegia as part of negotiations for warships to take on the Valmese forces, a disturbing fact about Robin is uncovered and the Shepherds are ambushed by Risen. Additionally, "Marth"'s true identity is finally discovered.
Clearing this chapter is the first requirement toward unlocking twelve different paralogue chapters in which the player can recruit the other children who hail from the future. To complete unlocking those chapters, the fixed parents of those children must be married; there is no set deadline for this requirement to be met. Some child paralogues require additional clearing additional chapters along the main storyline or unlocking additional child paralogues. As long as Chrom did not marry the Maiden, the player is guaranteed to unlock at least one of these paralogues upon first clearing the chapter.

Aversa welcomes Chrom, Robin, and Frederick to Plegia as they arrive, and confirms the rumors that the new King Validar is Grimleal. Validar arrives and greets them; though he denies ever having met them, Chrom and Robin privately recognize Validar from the assassination attempt on Emmeryn. Aversa states that Plegia can offer no soldiers, but can provide 800 warships, 200 transports, and full funding for the campaign against Valm, an offer which is accepted. Before they can return to Port Ferox, Aversa introduces the most accomplished hierophant of Plegia, who looks identical to Robin and shares their name. Before such a coincidence can be clarified, Aversa and Validar depart to prepare Plegia's aid against Valm.
That night, Robin is troubled by thoughts of the hierophant before hearing the hierophant's voice calling out. Robin then hears Validar's voice, claiming he is Robin's father and requests Robin give in to Grima. Chrom arrives, having heard Robin's shouts, causing Validar to cease contact, dissipating Robin's apparent headache. Robin tells Chrom about Validar's voice and his claim that Robin is his child, and Chrom speculates that the hierophant may be Robin's twin, though Robin is unsure. Frederick then runs in and informs Chrom that they are under attack from Risen, in spite of the posted sentries. Chrom accuses Validar of enabling this, then orders the Shepherds to prepare to fight.
As the battle begins, a dark mage, Henry, arrives amongst a murder of crows, claiming the crows wished to inform Chrom that he is caught in a trap. Henry then joins the Shepherds, informing them further of reinforcements from the forts.
As the battle comes to an end, Chrom lets his guard down, only for a risen assassin to appear. Marth arrives and defends Chrom from the assassin, calling him "father" in the process. She asks to speak with Chrom privately, where she reveals the Brand of the Exalt in her right eye, confirming her identity as Chrom's daughter, Lucina. While the two reconnect, Robin interrupts, stating that they could start a rumor. Chrom and Lucina then reveal the truth to Chrom's wife, though she cannot quite belive it; if Chrom married the maiden, this is revealed to Robin. Lucina specifies that she comes from a ruined future where Chrom and the Shepherds were killed and Grima was resurrected. Chrom takes her bearing the wholly unique Falchion as proof enough, and Chrom's wife fully accepts Lucina as her daughter.

Strategy
This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody. |

At the end of this chapter on Lunatic+, you will have a minimum of 400 Renown (even if you skipped the paralogues). This means you can claim the Beast Killer.
Trivia
- This chapter unlocks the most potential destinations upon being cleared of any chapter in the Fire Emblem series; should all of the potential fixed parents of all child characters be already married, thirteen new destinations will be unlocked (all twelve of the child paralogues in addition to the next chapter in the main path). The next-highest number is six, held over by Three Houses; if the requirements for all possible paralogues are met, clearing Chapter 6 in Part I and Chapter 15 of Crimson Flower will both unlock five paralogues and the next chapter. In Fates, it is possible to unlock up to seven destinations, six child paralogues and the next chapter, before starting Chapter 8, but it is impossible to accomplish this before clearing Chapter 7, as three fathers required to unlock the paralogues are recruited in that chapter.
