Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Lowen is a cavalier that joins in chapter 11 of Eliwood mode and chapter 12 of Hector mode. In both chapters he will perform fairly decently, he will be outclassed by Marcus on all fronts and even somewhat by Hector and Oswin in terms of combat, but will be a fairly useful unit nonetheless. Lowen comes with decent bases and weapon levels for his join time, unlike most cavaliers he chooses to focus on defense rather than offense with a high 90% growth in HP and a decent 40% growth in defense and a 50% growth in luck, all of his other growth are rather mediocre. Though this might lead to him seeming mediocre, because of the relatively low stats of most enemies in The Blazing Blade, Lowen will be able to become a capable combat unit and upon promotion thanks to his high movement, canto and access to the full weapon triangle will serve well on any team. Lowen also has the highest constitution of all the cavaliers and upon promotion will be able to wield heavyer weapon, such as a hand axe, without losing speed and will usually still be light enough to be rescued by most mounted unit. Though because of him mediocre speed he won't be able to double consistently, because of the low speed of most enemies, after his promotion and getting a speedwing he will be able to double the large majority of enemies throughout the game.
Lowen has the fire affinity which gives the person who he's supporting extra attack, this support works excellently with all of his support partners and such it comes down to personal preference who the best candidate is, but because of his high movement the best choice is often considered to be Marcus, even if Marcus' ice affinity gives little in return to Lowen.
Lowen is also often benched in favour of to Sain and Kent as both of them have better offensive growth, will be more potent combat units when trained up and might even be promoted if the player has done so in Lyn mode. This advantage will not be present if the player has skipped Lyn mode and thanks to his higher availability Lowen will mostly likely be a higher level than both of them. Even if you have trained up Sain and Kent you can still use Lowen along with them, there's no hidden rule about having one unit of each class on your team.
Overall, Lowen is a seemingly mediocre earlygame unit, but because of his excellent class and the often low stats of enemies Lowen will remain a solid unit through the entire game.
