This staff here? It's magical and can return life to those who have passed on already.
— Claud, to Tailtiu

Valkyrie (Japanese: バルキリーの杖 Valkyrie Staff) is the holy staff once borne by Archbishop Bragi of the Twelve Crusaders, bestowed upon him at the Miracle of Dahna following his blood pact with a dragon. It is the property of Bragi's descendants, the nobility of House Edda of Grannvale, and can only be used by those who bear major Bragi Holy Blood. Analogious to the Aum staff of the later Archanea era of the world, the staff is capable of resurrecting a dead individual, albeit limited to those who in life possessed a substantial amount of quintessence.[1]

History

Assumed by the descendants of House Edda to have been lost for some time, Claud found it in Bragi Tower during his trip there to pray and see the true nature of the conflict embroiling Sigurd. He retrieved it and carried it with him in his travels with Sigurd. After Claud's death in the Battle of Belhalla, it came into the possession of his child.

Trivia

  • Valkyrie is the only one of the Crusader weapons (not counting Loptous, which though bound by Holy Blood is not a Crusader weapon) to not reappear in Awakening.
  • The Fortify staff in Awakening closely resembles Valkyrie.
  • If the player completes Genealogy of the Holy War twelve times, a scene is added to the opening demo reel in which the dragon Forseti, represented as a Sage, uses Valkyrie to resurrect Lewyn following his death during or after the Battle of Belhalla.
    • In said scene, Lewyn's HP was already full before being revived with Valkyrie. When using the staff in actual gameplay to revive a unit, the deceased unit's HP starts at 0, then is restored to its max amount once the unit is fully revived.
