“ | A dark mage... does not need... a sound body and mind... | ” | — Tharja |
---|
Tharja (サーリャ, Sallya) is a dark mage from Plegia. Uninterested in the conflict between her nation and neighboring Ylisse, she instead allies with Chrom's vigilante band. She has a preoccupation with curses, often found chanting suspicious ones to herself when alone.

Personality and character
Tharja has something of an obsession with the Avatar; this manifests even in her support conversations with other characters.[1] She explains this obsession started the moment they crossed eyes and that she knew the Avatar was different. This happens regardless of the Avatar's gender. Tharja follows the Avatar around for the first week after she joined the Army, and takes note on every move he/she makes, including how many books he reads daily, what he eats and how much he moves while sleeping. This kind of dedication is exclusive towards the Avatar, and she is usually very cold, sarcastic and even rude to others.
Tharja comes from a very long line of shamans and sorcerers, and has been learning the dark arts since a very young age. Her spells can have both positive and negative effects on the target. For example she can hex someone to either cure or cause a disease. She can communicate with the death as well, using her body as a medium or adivinate someones future with the use of a Manakete claw.
She has the the nicest body in the army and the darkest thoughts.

- ↑ "Tharja: Look at Avatar with those fools... I hope they realise he belongs to me. I suppose I could curse them all. ...Gods, that would take forever. It would be easier to just curse Avatar. A stink spell, perhaps? If he caused people to pass out and retch, I'd have him all to myself! ...Except that he would smell like an outhouse. Hmm... Maybe a different plan..." — Tharja and Frederick's C support, Fire Emblem Awakening
