Arthur (アーサー, Aasaa) is a character in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. He first appears in Chapter 6.

A mage of Tordo bloodline, Arthur was separated from his mother and sister years ago. When he hears word of his family's whereabouts, he leaves Silesia, bringing with him a pendant as the only proof of his heritage. In his travel towards Alster, he meets and befriends Phee, a soldier in training from Silesia.

Role

Arthur is a noble of House Freege, who are descendants of the crusader Tordo. His mother, Tailto, fought alongside Siglud. After having been ambushed and defeated at Barhara, Tailto hid in Silesia together with her son. However, a few years after this, she was found and taken back to her family's lands. Arthur, by unknown reasons, was left in Silesia. During his years living alone, he specialized in wind magic.

Several years later, he learns that his sister is still alive in Alster. He immediately leaves for Alster, and at some point of his travel, he meets Phee, a pegasus knight in training, who offers to take him to Grandbell.

Once they reach Sophara, they meet Celice's army, which is Phee's destination. He thanks her for the ride, stating that he can walk from there to Alster. In view of Phee's surprised reaction, he explains his motives to her, and Phee replies she is in a similar situation, as she is looking for her older brother. A few jabs later, his travel partner asks for his plans; Arthur, thankful for Phee's help, decides to pay her back in the form of company in Celice's army.

As the army approaches Alster, they are confronted by Freege's elite troops - and among them, a girl with a pendant indentical to his. Overjoyed, Arthur presents himself to the girl as his brother and explains their story, managing to convince her to join the Liberation Army. Later, they face Bloom and Hilda, and Arthur can finally avenge his destroyed family.

After the Grandbell Empire is defeated, Arthur goes to his father's house to rule it. If his father was not a nobleman, he inherits House Freege.

Fire Emblem: Thracia 776

Among the unused data of the game, there are portraits for several characters from Seisen no Keifu but in the style of Thracia 776 - one of them is for Arthur. This could mean that he was planned to appear in the game.

Fire Emblem: Hikari wo Tsugumono

In this manga adaptation done by Nea Fuyuki, Arthur is first seen in Chapter 6, trying to wake up an unconscious Phee, who had been shot down by Faval and his Ichaival. When the Liberation Army comes to them, Arthur asks them to help his friend, and later both of them join Celice's group.

When the Liberation Army attempts to free Alster, Arthur is deployed in Leaf's group, the one in charge of storming the castle. Once inside the castle, they encounter a shy female mage, whom Arthur recognizes as his little sister Teeny. However, before he can truly explain himself, Teeny ends up as a hostage, so that Leptor can defeat the rebels. With the help of Shanan, Arthur manages to explain the situation and convince Teeny to defect; her sudden change of heart gives Leaf an opening to defeat Leptor.

In this incarnation, Arthur is boisterous and a bit disrespectful, acting most of the time as a comic relief.
