Lester joins early in the second generation, not long after the start of Chapter 6. As an Arch Knight, he has high movement and can attack from far away. He is one of the best options against flying enemies due to their weaknesses to bows. He inherits Minor Ullr Blood from his mother Edain, which grants him an A rank in bows at base and increases his luck growth, but he's considered one of the lesser units in the second generation. As his mother is a healer, he ends up with growths that don't fit him, and he can only use bows, which few fathers can pass down to him. Edain also has no skills, so Lester is the unit that relies the most on inheritance to be useful. He desperately needs a father with Follow-Up and that passes down bows to him.
Both Claud and Azelle can grant the Rescue staff early, when it normally can only be obtained in Chapter 10, but they strengthen his sister Lana more. Claud is the worst option for a father, since he has no skills, his growths don't help him and he passes down nothing to him. Lester also cannot make use of Major Bragi Blood, and Lana can't use the Valkyrie staff because she ends up with Minor Bragi Blood. Azelle is a better option, as he passes down high speed and Follow-Up, but Lester won't inherit any bow and will still suffer from strength issues, so he's not an optimal father either.
Only three fathers can pass down bows to Lester: Midir, Jamke and a promoted Arden. From them, he can inherit any bow, including the Brave Bow that can be obtained in Chapter 4 if Midir or Jamke marries Edain, otherwise, it can only be obtained in Chapter 8, and the Killer Bow. Arden passes down high strength, HP and defense, but Lester doesn't gain benefit from Vantage and his skill growth will be low. Jamke has similiar growths except more speed and less defense. He will pass down both Accost and Adept, but they aren't reliable as Follow-Up, which Jamke only has as a class skill rather than a personal skill, so he can't pass it down. The best option is Midir: while his growths are lower than the others, they are balanced, he passes down bows and Follow-Up instead of Adept, as well as Accost, which is a good set of offensive skills. With Midir as a father, his growths in strength, skill and defense are not bad, and he will have good growths in speed and luck. As Lana is generally a reliable healer even without fathers that help her, focusing on Lester is a good idea.

Lester (Japanese: レスター Lester) is the eldest child of Lady Edain of Yngvi. Along with his sister, Lana, he was born and raised in hiding in the Isaachian village of Tirnanog in the aftermath of the Battle of Belhalla, alongside Seliph of Chalphy and under the care of his mother, Oifey and Shannan. He was later one of the first members of Seliph's liberation army in Grann 777.
If Edain was not married in the course of the first generation, Lester's role is filled by Deimne.
Biography
Lester was on a scouting mission outside of Isaach with Oifey and Diarmuid/Tristan when the Dozel army launched an assault on Tirnanog, but arrived early on in the battle to assist Seliph in combating the occupation.

Trivia
- Lester bears a resemblance to the Dozel nobleman Lex. This is due to the fact that, early in Genealogy of the Holy War's development, children were intended to be determined in-part by their father as well as their mother; this was scrapped due to memory limitations.[1]

However, we couldn’t implement that no matter how hard we tried due to capacity limitations, and so it ended up the way it is right now. Since some of the children were taken from those we had originally created before having to cut them down, you might find that some children actually resemble someone else." — Shouzou Kaga, translated by garmmy, Fire Emblem Genealogy of the Holy War Fan Special: Roundtable Discussion, https://garmtranslations.wordpress.com/, Published: June, 1996, translated February 13, 2019, Retrieved: February 23, 2019
