After King [[Chagall]] withdrew from [[Agusti]] to [[Madino]], [[Sigurd]] took control of [[Agustria]] and [[Grannvale]] administrators started ruling the area. Although Sigurd promised [[Eldigan]] to restore relations between Grannvale and Agustria to normal within a year, within just six months the Grannvale administrators began to abuse their power, and King Chagall proceeded to raise an army in Madino to retake his lost capital. At the same time, [[Orgahil]] pirates north of Madino have prepared a new invasion of Agustria, and Eldigan's troops have gathered at Fort [[Sylvale]], southwest of Madino.

At present, Chagall orders his troops to move against Agusti, while leaving the mercenary [[Jacobi]] in Madino to defend the castle. Eldigan soon learns of the king's decision and wonders what he should do. In Orgahil, the pirate [[Duvall]] proposes to raid the surrounding villages, but [[Brigid]] forbids the attack because Orgahil pirates are supposed to be heroic. Behind Brigid's back, however, [[Pizare]] explains to Duvall that there is no need to listen to Brigid, as she is not the captain's real daughter.

In Agusti, [[Oifey]] informs Sigurd that King Chagall has advanced upon the castle and surrounded it, and the Orgahil pirates have taken advantage of the chaos to attack the villages. Sigurd decides to fight, but orders [[Deirdre]] to stay in the castle because she must care for her newborn son, [[Seliph]]. Sigurd also asks [[Shannan]] to look after his family, then leaves the castle to fight the attackers.

The battle begins, and it ends with Sigurd conquering Madino Castle. However, King Chagall is not in the castle - Sigurd thinks that the king must have fled to Sylvale, where the Cross Knights of Eldigan are located. His musings are interrupted by the arrival of Father [[Claud]] of Edda along with [[Tailtiu]]. Claud informs Sigurd that Prince [[Kurth]] was murdered on his way back from [[Isaach]], and Lord [[Byron]] - Sigurd's father - has disappeared, making him the prime suspect. King [[Azmur]] became ill upon hearing the news of his son's death, while [[Reptor]] and [[Lombard]] gained a lot of power in the kingdom. Claud goes to the Tower of Bragi in the north-west to discover the truth - and Tailtiu keeps him company.

At the same time, news of Sigurd's victory reaches Agusti, and Deirdre declares she needs to meet her husband. Shannan tries to stop her, but Deirdre insists and leaves Seliph in Shannan's care. As soon as she exits the castle, however, [[Manfroy]] appears, thus finally finding the daughter of Cigyun. He kidnaps Deirdre despite her attempts to resist and disappears from the map.

Chagall enters Sylvale Castle and accuses Eldigan of causing the loss of Madino through his inaction, then calls the knight a traitor, provoking him to lead the Cross Knights against Sigurd. He either dies in battle or talks to [[Lachesis]], who convinces him to go persuade the king to stop attacking, and is gifted the [[Lands Sword]]. If Eldigan attempts to persuade the king, however, the king considers his retreat from the battlefield a sign of treason and executes Eldigan on the spot.

Once the Cross Knights are eliminated, Chagall calls in Thracian mercenaries led by [[Papilio]] as reinforcements. When these mercenaries are defeated, their negotiator - [[Travant]] - leaves Sylvale, as he believes Agustria is fated to lose at this point. Sigurd eventually seizes Sylvale and ruminates on Eldigan's death, but is interrupted by the arrival of Shannan, who tells Sigurd that Deirdre left the castle and disappeared.

In the meantime, Duvall informs his fellow pirates that Agustria lost the war and Grannvale might attack them too. Brigid blames him and the raiders for attacking villages and therefore provoking Grannvale, but Duvall retorts that she is not the captain's daughter and they have no need to obey her. The pirates then attempt to kill Brigid, but she runs off as Pizare leads a large group to invade Agustria.

At the same time, Claud and Taltiu have arrived at the Tower of Bragi, and Claud has learned the truth, which he can later pass onto Sigurd - Duke Lombard killed Prince Kurth on the orders of Duke Reptor, then framed Lord Byron, who is currently injured and weak. Claud also found House Edda's heirloom - the [[Valkyrie]] staff, which can resurrect the dead. If [[Edain]] is able to speak to Brigid, she recognizes Brigid as her long-lost twin sister and grants her the [[Yewfelle]]. [[Ethlyn]] can also talk to [[Quan]] and give him the [[Gae Bolg]].

Sigurd's forces eventually clash with the Orgahil pirates, defeat them, and seize Orgahil, thus gaining control of all of Agustria. However, their victory is short-lived, as Reptor and Lombard suddenly arrive with a massive army in an attempt to apprehend Sigurd for being a traitor to the crown alongside his father, Byron. Reptor reveals that Arvis was involved as well, and that his ultimate ambition is to sit on the throne of Grannvale. Sigurd is in disbelief and at a loss, but [[Annand]] appears with a squadron of [[Pegasus Knight]]s, on the orders of Queen [[Lahna]] of [[Silesse]] - and escorts Sigurd's army across the sea, to the snowy kingdom.

Eldigan, the Lionheart (Japanese: 獅子王エルトシャン Eltshan the Lion King) is the third chapter of Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. After six months of negotiations between Agustria and the occupying forces of Grannvale, Chagall decides to launch an attack on Castle Agusti in an attempt to reclaim it from Sigurd, and the Orgahil pirates take advantage of the chaos to raid villages.

Plot

Main article: Eldigan, the Lionheart/Script

After King Chagall withdrew from Agusti to Madino, Sigurd took control of Agustria and Grannvale administrators started ruling the area. Although Sigurd promised Eldigan to restore relations between Grannvale and Agustria to normal within a year, within just six months the Grannvale administrators began to abuse their power, and King Chagall proceeded to raise an army in Madino to retake his lost capital. At the same time, Orgahil pirates north of Madino have prepared a new invasion of Agustria, and Eldigan's troops have gathered at Fort Sylvale, southwest of Madino.

At present, Chagall orders his troops to move against Agusti, while leaving the mercenary Jacobi in Madino to defend the castle. Eldigan soon learns of the king's decision and wonders what he should do. In Orgahil, the pirate Duvall proposes to raid the surrounding villages, but Brigid forbids the attack because Orgahil pirates are supposed to be heroic. Behind Brigid's back, however, Pizare explains to Duvall that there is no need to listen to Brigid, as she is not the captain's real daughter.

In Agusti, Oifey informs Sigurd that King Chagall has advanced upon the castle and surrounded it, and the Orgahil pirates have taken advantage of the chaos to attack the villages. Sigurd decides to fight, but orders Deirdre to stay in the castle because she must care for her newborn son, Seliph. Sigurd also asks Shannan to look after his family, then leaves the castle to fight the attackers.

The battle begins, and it ends with Sigurd conquering Madino Castle. However, King Chagall is not in the castle - Sigurd thinks that the king must have fled to Sylvale, where the Cross Knights of Eldigan are located. His musings are interrupted by the arrival of Father Claud of Edda along with Tailtiu. Claud informs Sigurd that Prince Kurth was murdered on his way back from Isaach, and Lord Byron - Sigurd's father - has disappeared, making him the prime suspect. King Azmur became ill upon hearing the news of his son's death, while Reptor and Lombard gained a lot of power in the kingdom.

As soon as she exits the castle, however, Manfroy appears, thus finally finding the daughter of Cigyun.

He either dies in battle or talks to Lachesis, who convinces him to go persuade the king to stop attacking, and is gifted the Lands Sword. If Eldigan attempts to persuade the king, however, the king considers his retreat from the battlefield a sign of treason and executes Eldigan on the spot.

Once the Cross Knights are eliminated, Chagall calls in Thracian mercenaries led by Papilio as reinforcements. When these mercenaries are defeated, their negotiator - Travant - leaves Sylvale, as he believes Agustria is fated to lose at this point.

Claud also found House Edda's heirloom - the Valkyrie staff, which can resurrect the dead. If Edain is able to speak to Brigid, she recognizes Brigid as her long-lost twin sister and grants her the Yewfelle. Ethlyn can also talk to Quan and give him the Gae Bolg.

Sigurd is in disbelief and at a loss, but Annand appears with a squadron of Pegasus Knights, on the orders of Queen Lahna of Silesse - and escorts Sigurd's army across the sea, to the snowy kingdom.
