“ | You'll get your money's worth outta me. | ” | — Beowolf |
---|
Beowolf (Japanese: ベオウルフ Beowolf) was a Jugdrali mercenary in a partnership with fellow mercenary Waltz. He and Waltz were hired by Lord Macbeth of Anphony in the Agustrian war with Grannvale, but during the battle he was hired by Sigurd's army to side with them in fighting King Chagall and beyond until the Battle of Belhalla. During his lifetime he had at least one child: Felgus; additionally, there is evidence to suggest that he also fathered Delmud, the eldest child of Lady Lachesis of Nordion.
Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War
Role
Following the fall of Heirhein to Sigurd, Macbeth ordered Waltz's mercenary unit to deploy to fight Sigurd, but both Waltz and Beowolf held back until Sigurd's army drew close out of suspicion toward Macbeth. During the skirmish, Beowolf was approached by one of Sigurd's men and hired into Sigurd's service for 10,000 gold.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Beowolf has the issue of joining underleveled and relatively late. His high sword rank and wealth does make him somewhat easy to train up, and he has very good promotion bonuses. However, Genealogy's latter half gives him some trouble due to the presence of mages and horse-penalizing terrain. If you wish to rely on Beowolf, then consider giving him the Brave Sword since his Strength isn't too great. Alternatively, you could give him the Magic Ring and a magic sword to grant him decent 2-range combat; this set up combos decently with Beowolf's Accost skill since he won't suffer any additional counter attacks. Other sword cavalry units do compete with Beowolf for these weapons, so whether or not to give Beowolf these weapons will depend on who you've been training beforehand.
As a father
Beowolf is a strong contender for being Lachesis' best husband, since it's easy to pair them up and he turns Lachesis' son into a great combat unit. He can make an okay husband for Edain and Brigid, but they both have much better options.
Personality and character
Though dedicated to his mercenary work, Beowolf nonetheless was judgemental of his employers and was prepared to abandon their service should he disagree with their cause or motivations.[1] He had a history of working with Eldigan of Nordion and held a high respect for him, and by Eldigan's request took to looking out for and tutoring his younger sister Lachesis during the Agustrian war.[2] Even though he and Waltz were close friends and partners, both accepted that one day the two may be enemies to each other in the employ of conflicting parties, which ultimately happened in Agustria.[3]
