Downloadable content in Fire Emblem Awakening
This is a list and summary of bonus chapters available in Fire Emblem Awakening.
Downloadable content
Kakusei is the first title on a Nintendo platform to implement purchasable downloadable content, introducing the implementatiion of the capacity to do this and provide game patches on the Nintendo 3DS. From Chapter 6 onward, the player can travel to the Otherworld's Gate (異界の門), located on an island to the continent's south; the Gate is a connection to the Otherworld, a realm in which the spirits of legendary heroes from other places and times dwell and interact. At the Gate, the player can access the options to purchase downloadable content from an online store, then play it. The downloadable content takes the form of individual chapters of varying difficulty, involving cameo appearances of characters from earlier Fire Emblem series titles.
Upon the completion of the chapter for the first time, the player gains a talisman which allows one focal character from the downloadable content to be fully playable in the main story; unlike the other characters featured in the content, these focal characters typically receive a redesign and may have a unique class. These characters cannot support anyone.
