Nemesis (Japanese: ネメシス Nemesis) was a significant figure in the history of Fódlan.
Biography
Legend
According to the legends, Nemesis was the King of Liberation, granted the Sword of the Creator and the Crest of Flames by Sothis, and he slew several evil gods. However, his power made him go mad, and in the Imperial Year 91 at the Tailtean Plains, Nemesis faced Seiros in battle, but was disarmed and brutally stabbed to death.
Nemesis was the original wielder of the Sword of the Creator before it was passed down to Byleth.
Actual story
Nemesis was a leader of a group of bandits, but stole the remains of the goddess Sothis from the Holy Tomb. He later went to Zanado, the Red Canyon, and slaughtered several children of the goddess using the Sword of the Creator, which he obtained through unknown methods, and used their bodies to gain even more power, and brought war to the continent. He likely had help from those who slither in the dark.[1] This would later be known as the Red Canyon Tragedy.[2] In the Imperial Year 91 at the Tailtean Plains, Nemesis faced Seiros in battle, but was disarmed and brutally stabbed to death.

Rhea: Nemesis was originally the leader of a group of bandits. He plundered the Holy Tomb and stole the remains of the progenitor god. When Nemesis appeared in Zanado some time later, he already wielded the Sword of the Creator.
Byleth: How did he get the Sword of the Creator?
Rhea: The legend that the goddess gifted him the sword so that he could fight the wicked gods...is false. That story was created after the fact. I do not know how Nemesis obtained the sword, or why he appeared in Zanado. But he used that sword to massacre the people there. The children of the progenitor god. From their corpses he gained even more power, and brought war to Fódlan... A mere bandit like Nemesis would not have been capable of anything so monstrous on his own...
Seteth: It was surmised that someone was collaborating with Nemesis, and there was a massive investigation to uncover who it was. But the truth was never discovered. I am now certain that his accomplices were those who slither in the dark." — Rhea and Seteth, Fire Emblem: Three Houses - ↑ "You must not allow Fódlan's bloody history...the Red Canyon Tragedy...to repeat itself..." — Rhea, Fire Emblem: Three Houses
