Saint Macuil (pronounced /ˈmækjuˌɪl/[key][2]; Japanese: マクイル Macuil) was a significant figure in the history of Fódlan. He is one of the Four Saints who fought alongside Seiros in the battle against Nemesis. He is also known as the Wind Caller (Japanese: 風を呼ぶもの That which calls the wind).
Biography
Macuil is one of the Children of the Goddess. After the massacre perpetuated by Nemesis in Zanado, he joined forces with Seiros and the other surviving Nabateans, becoming one of the Four Saints; unlike his peers, Macuil refused to share his blood with his human allies due to despising their species for having one of their kind responsible for killing Sothis, merely limiting himself to crafting weapons he and his allies would use in the upcoming conflict with Nemesis. Macuil later participated in the War of Heroes and left to parts unknown once it came to a close, with some even speculating he had perished during it.
In Imperial year 1185-1186, Macuil can be found in a paralogue exclusive to the Verdant Wind route as Claude seeks some of his weapons hidden in a temple located in the Sreng Desert. Macuil attemps to drive Claude's army off but is then defeated and falls into a deep slumber. Claude the seizes the opportunity to look for any weapons located in the area, eventually finding the Sword of Begalta.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Role
Macuil is the boss of Claude's paralogue, The Sleeping Sand Legend. As such, he can only be fought on Claude's route, Verdant Wind.

Personality
Macuil holds a great disdain for humanity, due to the crimes they committed against his brethren, the Children of the Goddess. As such, he refuses to participate in any current human wars and instead secludes himself in the desert. Because of this, there are few humans that are known to bear his Crest—as he was likely not as willing to gift it to them like Seiros, Indech, Cichol, and Cethleann did, and House Nuvelle from Adrestia used magic to conceal their Crest of Noa as if it were of Macuil's—and there is only one known weapon tied to his Crest.

Trivia
- No playable character possesses the Crest of Macuil in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Macuil is the only holy lineage to hold this distinction. This does not apply in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, as Monica von Ochs bears the Crest and is playable on the Scarlet Blaze route.
- The majority of sacred weapons were created as a joint effort between Indech and Macuil. Indech forged the weapons and Macuil gave them power.[3]

Shez: Oh, right. I remember hearing how Saint Indech made 'em a long time ago.
Seteth: I see someone has been studying. Many people mistakenly believe the sacred weapons were forged by Saint Macuil. In truth, most were forged by Indech, then imbued with power by Macuil." — Conversation following The Saint's Forge of Azure Gleam, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes
