Belhalla (バーハラ Barhara) is the capital city and seat of power of the Kingdom of Grannvale in Jugdral, situated in the nation's north-east. It was founded by Saint Heim of the Twelve Crusaders in Grann 649, as was the rest of Grannvale and its six satellite duchies. Its royal family, the Belhalla dynasty, are the descendants of Heim and the inheritors of his holy weapon, the Book of Naga. Belhalla also houses the Weiss Ritter, an elite knight brigade which comprises the Grannvale royal guard.

History

In Grann 757, when the army of Grannvale set out to war with Isaach, Grannvale's Prince Kurth accompanied the army, leaving his ailing father King Azmur in Belhalla under the care of Lord Arvis of Velthomer. Kurth's murder at the war's conclusion briefly led to worries of the end of the Belhalla dynasty given Azmur's poor health and advanced age; these fears were absolved with the reappearance of Deirdre, Kurth's daughter and heiress. Arvis and Deirdre were soon married, and as such Arvis succeeded the throne after Azmur's death. Around this time, Belhalla was the site of the Battle of Belhalla, in which Arvis executed Sigurd of Chalphy and his army.

As the years passed, control of Grannvale and Belhalla fell into the hands of Julius, Arvis and Deirdre's son and vessel of Loptyr, twisting Grannvale into a brutal empire. After Arvis's death, Julius took direct control of Belhalla in the final confrontation with Seliph, Sigurd's son and revolutionary leader, and it was at Belhalla that Julius fell to Seliph and Julia. With the war concluded, Seliph assumed his rightful throne as Grannvale's king, ruling from Belhalla.

Belhalla Castle in the Final Chapter

Belhalla Castle is one of the castles present in Chapter 5 and the Final Chapter. In the former, it is neutral throughout the entire chapter and cannot be approached or accessed through legitimate means, with the final destination of Sigurd instead being Velthomer. In the latter, its capture is the final objective of the chapter, and it is controlled by Julius and protected by Ishtar and the Deadlords.
