“ | We must cross the Airmid River, which separates the Empire and the Alliance. To do that, we must take the largest bridge across it. The Great Bridge of Myrddin. Myrddin connects the monastery and the Imperial capital to the east. It is the shortest route there. | ” | — Hubert |

Beyond Escape/Script
Five years have passed since the Battle of Garreg Mach, and the war has fallen into a stalemate. King Dimitri of Faerghus has granted Rhea and the Church of Seiros sanctuary at the Kingdom capital of Fhirdiad and is raising an army in preparation for all-out war with Adrestia, and Claude deliberately stirs up internal conflicts within the Leicester Alliance to feign neutrality and keep the Empire at bay. Byleth hears Sothis' voice demanding that they wake up, and wakes to find that five years have passed. Byleth heads to Garreg Mach Monastery and reunites with Edelgard and the rest of the Black Eagle Strike Force, who recount the current state of the war. Confident that Byleth's return will allow them to break the deadlock, Edelgard and Hubert decide that their first order of business is to conquer the Alliance capital of Derdriu, as House Riegan leads the Alliance faction that stands against the Empire. In order to reach Derdriu, the first step is to take the Great Bridge of Myrddin, currently under the command of Judith von Daphnel.
As the group marches towards Myrddin, Hubert takes Byleth aside and informs them that Edelgard's uncle and regent Lord Arundel is maintaining his own military force separate from Edelgard's, likely has ambitions that diverge from hers, was the one who gave Kronya and Solon their orders five years prior, and was involved with the experimentation that forcibly implanted Edelgard with the Crest of Flames and resulted in the deaths of all of her siblings. Despite Byleth's lingering distrust over their murder of Jeralt, Hubert maintains that their might is necessary to defeat the Church and begs them to give their all in Edelgard's name. At the Bridge of Myrddin, Imperial forces successfully kill Judith and seize the bridge. Edelgard celebrates a hard-fought victory that will serve as a tipping point in the battle against the Alliance.

From now on, your former students can give out seminars and participate in Faculty Training with you (now renamed Advanced Drills). In addition, Edelgard automatically receives her personal class, the Armored Lord, and her personal weapon Aymr. Lastly, if the DLC pass was purchased and Anna was recruited, the paralogue The Secret Merchant becomes available from this month onward.
Trivia
