Fódlan (pronounced /ˈfoʊdlən/[key][1]; Japanese: フォドラ Fodra) is the continent upon which Fire Emblem: Three Houses takes place.
History
Dominion of Fódlan is split between three major powers: the Adrestian Empire to the south, the Kingdom of Faerghus to the north, and the Leicester Alliance to the east. Fódlan's three superpowers were once locked in turmoil and war, but they currently exist in relative harmony. The Church of Seiros is the main religion of Fódlan, and exercises great power over the continent and its people.[2]
Locations
The three primary countries on the continent of Fódlan are Faerghus to the north, Adrestia to the south, and Leicester to the east. In the center of the continent is the Garreg Mach Monastery, which houses the Church of Seiros and the Officer's Academy. There are also several minor locations. Hresvelgr (in southern Adrestia), Blaidad (in northern Faerghus), and Regan (in northern Leicester) are notable for sharing their names with the surnames of the main characters Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude, respectively. Several other minor nations surround the Fódlan mainland: Morfis to the southeast, Almyra to the northeast, Sreng to the north, Albinoa to the northwest, and Brigid to the southwest.
Trivia
- A boss appearing in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War, Fotla, also has her name derived from the same Irish goddess as this continent.
