Plot

Marth's group arrives in Pyrathi, and is immediately attacked by King Mannu, who is enraged that an outsider would dare trespass upon his kingdom. During the battle, Marth recruits Jeorge, an Archanean sniper who escaped Dolhrian captivity after the fall of Archanea Palace. After the battle, Catria of the Whitewings arrives. She explains that Princess Minerva of Macedon is being forced into doing Dolhr's bidding because her younger sister Maria is being held hostage by Grust, and asks Marth to rescue Maria so that Minerva can launch a rebellion.

Strategy

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

In this chapter, you recruit Jeorge. He's actually fairly useful as far as pre-promotes go; his offensive stats are only very marginally inferior to Gordin's when the latter is promoted at level 10, and he is only 8 attacks away from access to Parthia. If you want a low-investment archer, he's your man.

There are a small group of pirates assaulting your initial position from across the sea, so leave a couple of swordsmen to act as your rearguard. Use the narrow corridor next to the treasure room as a chokepoint to help fend them off. The main problems are the two thieves. One will level Jeorge's village on turn 3; you can make immediate use of your cavalry to beat him there and skewer him. The other will steal the Wyrmslayer on turn 5 and escape with it to the southwest on turn 7; you may very well need to use the Warp staff to stop him. Caeda is the best character to send since she can escape from the pirates' retaliation without having to carve her way through them, wasting uses of Physic or Warp.

The true difficulty of this chapter comes from the horde of 15 Pirates who will bum-rush you from the south. Use and abuse Jeorge's Silver Bow, your bulky units, and healing to survive the rush. There is also a single spot just south of the treasure room inside the range of the enemy Hunters and Hand Axe wielding Pirates; you can use this to take some of the heat off. This is a great opportunity to grind up sword ranks for Marth and Julian as well. Once you wipe these guys out, the battle is won. Mannu deserves mention for his absurdly high stats for this point of the game; he is capable of one-rounding anyone except a trained General Wolf/Sedgar or perhaps a VERY lucky Mercenary Barst. Fortunately, he only has one range, so Merric can pick him off from safety.
