Misha

“ | Back home, we've got lots of starving children. We're doing this for them. All we want is enough coin to buy bread and milk... | ” | — Misha to Nikalaf in Chapter 17A: Leonster's Gate |
---|
Misha(Japanese: ミーシャ Misha) is a playable pegasus knight in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776. She is a mercenary from Silesse working for the Grannvale Empire.
Fire Emblem: Thracia 776
Role
Notably, it is possible to never encounter Misha at all in a single playthrough of Thracia 776. For this to occur, the player must not access Chapter 14x and also choose to go east during Chapter 15 so Leif goes to Chapter 17B instead of Chapter 17A. If the player wishes to encounter her they must go west during Chapter 15; visiting Chapter 14x isn't required to recruit her.
Misha initially makes a brief appearance in Chapter 14x, under the command of the Loptrian Dark Bishop Codda. Codda overtakes command of the squadron she brought along and then orders her to retreat before seeing combat.
She then later appears in Chapter 17A where she is assisting in defending the front gate of Leonster castle. Here she directly fights against Leif's forces. During the battle Karin can speak to her. If Karin does so, she questions why a Silessean Pegasus Knight would willingly work for the Empire, though Misha refuses to give a straight answer; she only says she has something to protect.
After the battle, if Karin spoke to her and she was captured by Leif's forces, she is questioned by Leif. She remains stubborn and only asks for an execution due failing her squad.[4] Dorias tells Leif that executing her might be for the best[4] though Karin interrupts before Leif responds; she asks Misha how she intends to help the orphans in Silesse if she is dead. Misha asks Karin how she knows about this, and Karin mentions that one of Misha's squad-mates told her during the battle. Karin's statement gives Misha pause, though before she responds August chimes in that if she dies the Empire will be free to enter Silesse and begin engaging in child hunts in the region. Misha appears to be unaware that the child hunts were even happening[5] and Leif tells her that she will live so she can see what the Empire is doing to the world. Misha gives a noncommittal answer and then joins Leif's forces.
Misha accompanies Leif's liberation army until at least the liberation of Munster. Her involvement, if any, with the war after Leif's forces merged with Seliph's is unknown, as she does not appear in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War.

Analysis
This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
After recruiting her in Chapter 17A, Misha joins Leif's army as a late prepromoted Pegasus Knight. While her base stats aren't impressive aside from her high magic base, her growth rates are surprisingly decent for a late joining prepromoted unit, making it easy to ensure good levelups by putting scrolls on her. Her growth rates are way less important than her weapon levels though: with an A rank in both lances and swords, Misha can be equipped with pretty much every weapon she wants to wield. While most lances aren't too interesting for her since her Constitution and base strength are rather low, her high magic base and A swords rank allow her to make good use of the various magic swords during indoor chapters. Since a lot of the upcoming maps will be indoors and enemy mages will appear more frequently as the game comes to it's end, this ability is well-welcomed.
As a unit with flying mobility, Misha can move freely during outdoor chapters, but is forced to dismount during indoor chapters. During outdoor chapters, Misha's high movement and ability to take and drop most unmounted units compensate for her rather mediocre combat abilities. During indoor chapters however, Misha's utility will mostly be reduced to her combat abilities. Luckily, swords are very decent weapon type if your weapon level is high enough, and as already mentioned, Misha's sword rank is as high as it can be, making the dismount penalty a lot less of an issue for her. She will lose a lot of her mobility, but 6 Move usually suffice to at least keep up with a lot of your other units indoors.
Physical enemies, especially bow users, always pose a threat to Misha, since neither her HP nor her defense are very high at base, but she can take on magical enemies quite well thanks to her base magic and the existence of Pure Water and Magic Up. If you field Karin, you can also utilize her support with Misha to improve her combat a bit.
All in all, Misha is a servicable filler unit in both outdoor and indoor chapters, since her outdoor mobility and swordfighting in indoor chapters are quite good, but cannot be used to their full extend since her frailness holds her back. A more potent unit with similar properties can be found in Amalda, a Paladin who can be recruited soon and has the additional advantage of 1 extra move, granting one extra Authority and being able to use staffs alongside swords in both indoor and outdoor chapters.
Personality and character
Misha is a serious individual and, according to Dorias, exhibits the typical pride of a Silessean pegasus knight.[4] Feeling she has failed, she initially requests an execution after being captured. She eventually swallows the loss when she is reminded that her death means that the orphans in Silesse will have to fend for themselves without her. She then realizes that the Empire is a danger to the children regardless due to the child hunts and readily takes up arms against the Empire due to this.
She appears uncomfortable when Nikalaf brings up that her mother died fighting against Sigurd.[3] She tells Nikalaf that she does not fight for the Empire for any reason relating to her mother; she only wishes to feed the orphans at home.

After returning home, Misha joined the Silessean Holy Pegasus Knights. She later particpated in the Silessean Liberation War, and after the New Kingdom of Silesse was established, she became the first commander of the new Silessean Holy Pegasus Knights. Trivia
- Misha may be holding a Wind Sword in her Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 artwork, as the shape of the guard matches the guard of the wind sword in its Fire Emblem Trading Card Game artwork. However, it is colored differently so it is not entirely clear if it is intended to the a Wind Sword, though she does have a Wind Sword in her inventory when fought.
