Death (Japanese: デス Death) is a black magic spell appearing in Fire Emblem Gaiden and its remake, Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. Death is a powerful mid-range spell without special effects; in Gaiden and vanilla Shadows of Valentia, Death is wielded exclusively by enemy units, with a DLC package required in order for the player to legitimately wield Death for themselves. Contrary to the spell's name, it is possible to survive a hit of Death. It returns in Three Houses as a dark spell known as Death Γ (Japanese: デスΓ Death Γ). In this game, it is weaker in terms of raw might, but has a high critical rate.
Its incarnation as a blue tome weapon skill in Heroes is a personal weapon of the corrupted variation of Delthea; in addition to a constant boost to its user's Defense, it further boosts all of its user's stats during combat but deals recoil damage to its user afterward.
