* If one counts the War Monk and War Cleric as a single class, then they have a unique weapon combination.  No other class, excepting classes which use all weapon types like Baron and Master Knight, wields both axes and staves.
*In Awakening, enemy War Monks can potentially have the Resistance +2 skill, which War Monks cannot normally learn, though child units may inherit it from their mother or bonus units may have innately.
* Enemy War Monks can potentially have the Resistance +2 skill. That skill is not typically legal on a War Monk (the male version of its class), as Resistance +2 is the innate skill of the female-only Troubadour class (Troubadours may, however, promote into War Clerics, the female side of the axe-staff class). The only cases where a War Monk with Resistance +2 is definitely legal are in the case of the child characters Owain, Laurent, Brady, Gerome, and male Morgan, provided they inherited Resistance +2 from their mothers, as well as the bonus unit Boey (who gets Resistance +2 as a personal skill).

The War Monk (Japanese: バトルモンク Battle Monk) is an advanced class debuting in Fire Emblem Awakening. It is one of the class change options available to Priests, and is the male version of the otherwise identical War Cleric. It gains the use of axes alongside staves.

The class appears in Three Houses as downloadable content, as part of the Cindered Shadows side story. It becomes available in the main story after completing the first chapter of this side story. In this game, the class wields magic due to the absence of staves, and specializes in brawling in addition to axes, gaining access to the Fistfaire skill to facilitate this. It is one of only three classes available to the player in Three Houses to have access to both brawling and magic, along with War Cleric and Enlightened One. However, War Monks have only half of the normal amount of uses of their spells.
