Prologue II (Japanese: 序章 承 Prologue: Development) is the second chapter in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon on Normal difficulty.
Plot
- Main article:
Prologue II/Script
Marth arrives in the castle courtyard and is greeted by two Altean cavalrymen, Frey and Abel. They explain that Elice assigned them as his bodyguards, while the tactician Malledus remains with her. The three are to regroup with Jagen at the main gates, but before they can proceed, more Gra soldiers attack.
After dispatching the enemy soldiers, Jagen arrives to escort Marth away from the castle. Before they leave, another Altean cavalier named Cain arrives badly wounded, despite the fact that he is supposed to be in Gra. Cain reveals he has been sent to deliver a message, but before he can do so, he begins to succumb to his wounds. Jagen insists on waiting to treat him until after they have all escaped.
Meanwhile, inside the castle, Malledus prepares to escape with Elice, but she refuses to come with him. She explains that she cannot abandon Altea's people in their hour of need, and that Malledus must ensure Marth's survival so that he can someday wield Falchion and battle Medeus.

Strategy
This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody. |
Overview:
- New Units: At the chapter's start, you receive two Cavaliers with good bases and strong growth rates.
- Strategy: Abel has a Javelin which enables ranged attacks, minimizing enemy counterattacks. Consider conserving its uses for crucial moments. Compared to the previous level, this chapter is straightforward but introduces some risk.
- Leveling Up: If you've already decided to use one of the Cavaliers as a decoy in Prologue IV: Transfer their items to another unit or keep them out of combat to avoid them taking EXP from key units. Otherwise, consider leveling up both Cavaliers for a balanced team.
Trivia
- This map is reused for a cutscene in the first prologue chapter of Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem.
