The Longbow is a relatively uncommon bow-type weapon in the Fire Emblem series. In its first appearance, it was just another bow. However, in Fuuin no Tsurugi, the longbow became a long-range weapon, a feature that has been maintained through all other games.
Since Path of Radiance, it cannot be used by bow-wielding mounted units, such as bow knights and horsemen.
The longbow first appeared in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, and since then it has been present in all subsequent games but Radiant Dawn, where there are three different versions of it.
