Camilla (Japanese: 暗夜王女カミラ Dark Night Princess Camilla) is twenty-third chapter of the Birthright campaign in Fire Emblem Fates. In this chapter, Corrin and their army travel through a long underground passage, only to be confronted by Camilla and forced to fight her once again.

Plot

As Corrin's army travel down a secret passage suggested to them by Shura, Elise joins Corrin's group and realizes that Corrin is going to fight both Xander and Garon and asks if they are going to kill them. Corrin states that they must do whatever it takes to end the war, even it means killing Garon. Elise decides to join them, much to Corrin's distress and they don't want her to fight her own family, but Elise states that she's not siding with anyone, that she wants to talk to both Xander and Garon both down from fighting and end the war without anyone dying. Corrin allows her to stay after much persuading. As they progress further down the passage, Elise notices the change in Corrin, that they're a different person now and so commanding. Corrin confirms her statement that since leaving Nohr, they have grown as a person, but tells her they're the same Corrin she's known and love, much to her excitement as she hugs them. Arthur and Effie, Elise's retainers, overhear Else and finds her with the Hoshidans. Believing that they have kidnapped her, they decide to report this to Camilla before leaving.

Elise spots someone following behind them, which to her surprise is Camilla, who notices the Hoshidan army and threatens to kill them for taking Elise away, but Corrin announces themselves to her and tells her that this is a big misunderstanding. Camilla is shocked to see Corrin, and asks if they're coming back to Nohr, but Corrin tells her no and that they are trying to end the war, but that can't happen while Garon lives. Camilla is not convinced and believes that the Hoshidians are brainwashing them and thinks by killing all the Hoshidians, Corrin will remember their true family. Corrin and Elise beg her not to do this, but Camilla's mind is already made up and the Hoshidians are forced to fight her once more. Preparations take place at this point; the battle begins once preparations are complete.

After a long battle, Camilla is defeated again. Believing Corrin isn't coming back to Nohr and that she's now losing Elise as well, Corrin tells her that she isn't losing anyone and they're trying to do whatever they can to convince Xander and Garon to cease the war and live peacefully as a family. Camilla finally believes Corrin's claims to bring peace, then loses consciousness while still in good shape. After Selena and Beruka let the Hoshidan army flee, they take Camilla back to her headquarters, as Corrin and the group move on.

Summary

Following Shura's directions, the group makes use of a secret underground passage. As they make their way forward, a dangerous enemy confronts them.
