Mikoto (Japanese: ミコト Mikoto) is the queen of Hoshido and Corrin's biological mother in Fire Emblem Fates.
Fire Emblem Fates
Role
Pre-Decision
Mikoto first appears in chapter 4 when Corrin first returns to Hoshido. She is utterly overjoyed to be reunited with her child, and dearly hopes to reawaken their lost memories of their time with her. However, during a parade to announce Corrin's return, a mysterious assassin appears, telekinetically steals the Ganglari from Corrin, and detonates it as a bomb. Mikoto sacrifices herself to protect Corrin from the shrapnel, restoring Corrin's memory of their kidnapping as she dies. Mikoto makes no further appearances in the Birthright or Conquest routes.
Corrin's S-rank supports with their Hoshidan siblings reveal that Sumeragi was not actually Corrin's biological father; she arrived in Hoshido with the infant Corrin during queen Ikona's reign and married Sumeragi after her death. Only Ryoma knew that Corrin was not Sumeragi's child; he was sworn to secrecy as a child and does not know who the real father is.
Revelation
In the Revelation route, Mikoto's life before becoming the queen of Hoshido is expanded upon. It is revealed that she is the younger sister of Garon's second wife Arete and Azura's maternal aunt. During Corrin's campaign in Valla, Mikoto returns as a thrall of Anankos and attempts to emotionally manipulate Corrin and lead them into a trap. After being defeated in battle, she returns to her senses and shares a final moment with her children before perishing for good. Corrin later discovers that Sumeragi was also enslaved by Anankos and was Mikoto's true murderer.
Hidden Truths
During the Hidden Truths DLC, it is revealed that as Anankos continued to suffer from mental degradation due to his extreme draconic power, he expelled his heart into a human form; this version of Anankos is Corrin's biological father.

Personality and character

Mikoto was a wise and caring queen who ruled Hoshido along side her husband Sumeragi. Her kindness was so profound that she took in and treated Azura as her own child, just as she had done with Sumeragi's children. Her love for her people, and detest in violence, was shown when she erected a barrier around Hoshido, which would make an invader lose their will to fight.
Along with her vast magical ability, Mikoto had the gift of prophecy, as stated in Takumi's confession to Corrin.
