The Mortal Savant (Japanese: エピタフ Epitaph) is an advanced magical class which debuted in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. It specializes in swordsmanship and black magic.

The class acts as somewhat of a "jack of all trades", having decent stats around the board, albeit with somewhat mediocre speed. It is capable of both powerful physical damage with swords, as well as strong magic damage, allowing it to deal with either type of defense when it needs to. It also possesses a movement advantage over the specialist infantry magic classes, while also not requiring one to level a unit's riding skill to access it. As a generalist class, however, it sacrifices some of the unique perks of the specialist classes, such as increased uses of magic or a mount. It is also not as strong or as fast as the specialist physical classes.
