Flametongue
| ||||
|
Flametongue (灼熱のブレス Scorching Breath) is the weapon wielded by the dragon final boss in Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade. It shares the icon of the Firestone from the preceding game, and is statistically very similar; it differs in that it nullifies the enemy's defense, possesses greater range and provides a larger increase to resistance.
It is unclear as to which weapon classification Flametongue belongs to; evidence exists that could classify it as either a stone or a breath. Favoring the stone view is its icon and its stat bonuses; favoring the breath view is the fact that its wielder is a non-Manakete Fire Dragon and its name.

Trivia
- Flametongue's secondary description, seen when the item is viewed in the Item menu (which cannot be done in normal gameplay), is "For Mamukoot only!"; the same applies for all European-translated versions. "Mamukoot" is obviously an early translation of "Mamkute" (Manakete). The description was likely left over from the Dragonstone items in Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade.
