The Imprisoned Prince/Script
Rowan and Lianna are amazed at the power of their newly obtained swords Enliron and Facinna. Tiki adds that it has the same power as the Shield of Flames and thus is more than a mere tool. Marth suggests it would be a good opportunity to strike the Citadel while Caeda adds the new swords could perhaps seal the Outrealm Portals. With spirits renewed, the twins lead a charge to rescue Darios and reclaim the Shield of Flames.
During the battle, the Aytolisian army is able to claim many of the forts within the Citadel until finally an enemy commander reveals Darios is being held in a jail cell in the rear. Marth, Rowan, and Lianna are able to easily free Darios from the cell, with the twin being relieved that he is alright. Darios thanks Marth for offering Rowan and Lianna guidance during his capture, to which Marth replies it was entirely their doing to see him free. The two then shake hands, agree to both help the twins reclaim the Shield of Flames.
After defeating the monsters guarding the shield, Darios tells Marth they can now complete the Shield of Flames. Marth calls forth the yellow and final Gleamstone, which places itself within the shield in a bright light. Before Rowan and Lianna can claim it, Darios attacks them and takes the shield for himself while glowing in a purple aura and revealing a personality shift. Rowan and Lianna are in disbelief about the sudden change of their best friend, unable to accept his betrayal even after Leo points it out. Darios tell the party he was actually never on their side to begin with as a loyal prince of Gristonne, and only joined them to claim the Shield of Flames with all the Gleamstones. Navarre points out his apparent personality change while Marth asks what Darios plans to do with the shield. Darios reveals he plans to take the power of the Chaos Dragon for himself and claims the party will never be able to defeat him. He then leaves with the Citadel beginning to collapse, forcing everyone to flee the building.
Once outside, Leo, Navarre, and Xander all declare how Darios betrayed them, but Rowan and Lianna argue that he is still their friend and must have a reason for his apparent betrayal. After a brief silence, Caeda, Robin, and Corrin all voice how they agree with the twins. Newly motivated, the twins ask for their friends' help to continue fighting and find Darios.
Summary
With the swords Enliron and Facinna in hand, the twins' determination to rescue Darios and retrieve the Shield of Flames is renewed. The party again makes its way to the Fortified Citadel.

Trivia
- This is the last chapter in the game to have Darios as an NPC ally.
- The Gatekeeper uses a Knight portrait when he rallies the troops after Upper Fort or Lower Fort is seized, despite him being a Soldier.
- There is a glitch during this chapter where immediately after South Jail Fort is seized, some of the previous reinforcements for the completed mission "Defeat the reinforcements!" will respawn without any warning. The number of them can range from all eight of them reappearing to none at all.
