Potential way to lower the clutter of the villager's Sprite Galleries. Not the prettiest thing I've ever seen, but I think it works.

Potential new format for family trees

A possible new way to format family trees. Example from Chalphy § Genealogy; based off Wikipedia:Family tree of the British royal family.

An unbroken line indicates a direct relationship; a dashed line indicates descent over generations. Important relatives from outside the Chalphy family are marked in gray.

A couple of changes from the example page:

  • I did not include italics because I think it is clear enough who is and is not descended from Baldr without them.
  • I did not include double lines because I think they are similarly unnecessary; I did include unspecified spouses to be consistent about how descendants are delineated.
  • I removed Deirdre's extended family and Quan's and Nanna's parents, as they are irrelevant; I additionally removed Nanna as her marriage to Leif is not necessarily canon to the rest of the series.
  • I marked Sigurd's and Ethlyn's children in gray, as none of them inherit Chalphy at the end of Genealogy.
  • I changed "Sesar's son" to "???", as it is not known if Sesar is Oifey's paternal or maternal grandfather; and I removed Sesar's and his child's Baldr blood, as that is not known either.

This format uses cell borders to connect family members, rather than mimic lines with ASCII characters in cells; this prevents any misalignment and allows it to look better in smaller spaces. However, it's still a table with a lot of empty cells, and it requires a good number of widths to prevent the vertical borders from collapsing to one side. Making the trees into SVG files should be simple, as it's just text and basic shapes and colors, and it may be the best way to display them as it won't have any down-scaling weirdness.

To prevent the bottom text from expanding the size of the table, I set the cell to have max-width: 0, which lets the rest of the table grow as normal and forces the text to wrap to it; this feels wrong and like it won't work on some platforms, but I couldn't find a way to make text wrap for non-fixed widths.

The Sacred Stones random monster inventories

{{Monster items FE8}} notes that if the first item is capable of inflicting poison, the second item (if it is present) will not be droppable. Note that:

  • This restriction is to weapons that inflict poison, not to the preset poison weapons (the Poison Sword, Toxin Lance, etc.); changing the properties of a weapon such as the Iron Sword to inflict poison will prevent the second item from being droppable like a traditional poison weapon.
  • This check is not made on the second item, which can be dropped even if it can inflict poison, though no such weapons are in the dropped items table and must be modified into it.
  • This only checks for poison and not for other status afflictions, such as petrification.

FE7 Hannah leaving dialogue

Putting this here rather than any script page because it can happen in many chapters; I wanted to note it, but don't know where to put it. This can happen from Chapter 22xE/23xH to Chapter 28 (Eliwood's tale) or 30 (Hector's). The augury is inaccessible for chapters 29E/31H and 29xE/31xH, and the event cannot happen on the chapters afterward.

This event occurs in Normal Mode when the player selects the augury menu at preparations if the player has viewed at least one augury beforehand. If the player has not viewed any auguries, the event does not occur; the event cannot occur in Hard Mode, where the augury is unavailable.

If Mark is present

Hannah: Oh, it's you, Mark. You have good timing. I need to talk with you. I'm old...and I'm weary. You all fight so much. Day in, day out... A magic island one day, a burning desert the next... I'm worn out. Exhausted. ...... Truth be told... It's too much for me. I'm a simple fortune-teller. These battles are too much... ......I can't take anymore. Hm? Ah... Don't worry about the auguries. I've arranged for someone to take my place. ......Take care of yourself. I'll pray for your success.

Nils: Oh, Mark! Do you need an augury? Hannah asked if I could lend you my skill. To be honest, I'm not sure I can do it, but I'll try my best!

The Binding Blade true hit

Because The Binding Blade's random number generator has a chance of generating a 100, its true hit chances are slightly lower than other games'. I noted that there is a difference on the true hit page above the relevant table, but do not think the actual numbers are different enough to warrant mention; in the event that changes, and for my own amusement, I have listed them here.

Standard true hit is exact, and displayed to the hundredth for consistency; FE6 true hit is rounded to the nearest hundred-thousandth.

Visual representation of turn-based map hazards

Idea for representing turn-based map hazards visually, rather than just with a list of patterns or active and inactive turns. Example with bridges from Lagdou Ruins 8:

Bridges, highlighted and labeled

The bridges present on the map appear and disappear on set turns. None are present at preparations, but some appear at the start of turn 1.

  • Bridges 1 and 8 are present turns 1–5 and 10–14
  • Bridges 2, 6, and 9 are present turns 2–4, 8–10, and 14–16
  • Bridges 3 and 10 are present turns 5–8 and 13–16
  • Bridges 4 and 7 are present turns 3, 4, 7, 8, 11, 12, 15, 16, and 19
  • Bridges 5 and 11 are present turns 1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 10, 13, 14, 17, and 18
  • Bridge 12 is present turns 6, 12, and 18

On turn 20, all bridges are made present and cease disappearing.
