The Trueblade (剣聖, Kensei, meaning "master swordsman") class, also referred to as the Sword Eschatos (ソードエスカトス, Soodo Esukatosu) class in Japan, is a very advanced sword-using class exclusive to Radiant Dawn. It is the last in a rare three-stage promotion line, starting with the Myrmidon class, then the Swordmaster class, and finally the Trueblade.

Trueblades are extremely powerful, being a third-tier class. They have high stats all around, although their strength and defense pale slightly in comparison to those of other final classes. Additionally, their resistance is rather low, and they do not have any ranged attacks.

However, they have an amazingly large bonus of 20 for critical chance, very characteristic of their class; trueblades often have high luck for critical hits. Additionally, they have the Astra skill, which allows a trueblade to attack five times in a row, most likely decimating the opponent. With few flaws, their skills compensate for their weakness in strength, and the Trueblade class is overall a very strong attacker.

Etymology

The word "trueblade" seems to be only a creative invention by the translators of Fire Emblem. The Japanese name, Sword Eschatos, is from a Greek word meaning "last" or "extreme".[1]
