The Bottomless Canyon (Japanese: 無限渓谷 Infinite Chasm) is a huge canyon that separates the two kingdoms Hoshido and Nohr in Fire Emblem Fates.
The canyon's true nature is that of a portal between the world Valla resides in and the world that Hoshido and Nohr exist in. It is not the only entrance into Valla, but it is the one most easily passed through. Passage to Valla is only granted every few decades, and during the events of Fates, the canyon is open to passage to Valla. To pass into Valla, all one must do is jump into the canyon.
Geography
The canyon's southern end terminates in the Hoshidan sea, the farthest reaches of the canyon to the north are never seen. The canyon is sandwiched between mountains running parallel to both sides for its entire length. The canyon and surrounding mountains take after Nohr's landscape, the earth houses little plant life, and is rocky and barren.
The canyon itself is often beset by thunderstorms and is difficult to cross due to both size and weather conditions.[1] This makes the canyon a great natural border between Hoshido and Nohr, and is primarily crossed by bridge.
