The Valkyrie (ヴァルキュリア, Varukyuria, Valkyria in Japan) class is a class of staff users who ride horses. They first appear in Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, where they can use staves and anima magic. In Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, they used staves and light magic. In Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, they can use swords in addition to staves.
Valkyries often have high magic and resistance, but low defense. In Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, since they use swords, their strength is sufficient to attack. In former games, it is dangerous to position them where enemies can harm them, although they can attack with magic. In the later games, they can attack with swords, but still have fairly low defense.
In Fuuin no Tsurugi and Blazing Sword, troubadours change class to valkyries. In The Sacred Stones, troubadours and clerics can become valkyries. Finally, in Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, only clerics can become valkyries.
Usually, they are a second-tier class. In Radiant Dawn, they are a third-tier class, and the Cleric class is a second-tier class without any designated first-tier class. In Path of Radiance, they lack any weakness to weapons effective against horses, such as Longswords.
