Nihil
| ||||||
|
Nihil (Japanese: 見切り Seeing All), known as Perceptive in Engage, is a combat skill which debuted in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. Its primary purpose across all of its appearances is to temporarily disable any and all combat skills used by enemy units, preventing them being used upon the bearer of Nihil. In Radiant Dawn, it is particularly important in the Part IV, Endgame, owing to its ability to protect its user from both the mastery skills used by its bosses and from the counter-attacking effect of the Aurora skill in the final stage; additionally, the skill Mantle also incorporates the effects of Nihil.

English |
• Nihil |
• Latin: "nothing", "nothingness". The root of the modern English word "annihilation". Used in Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. |
English (unofficial) |
Awareness |
Popularized by Serenes Forest and the old fan translations of Genealogy of the Holy War and Thracia 776, prior to the English release of Path of Radiance. |
Japanese |
見切り |
Romanized as Grasp in its internal file name in Path of Radiance, and as Nihil in the same in Radiant Dawn. The noun form of the Japanese verb 見切る, which can be taken to mean both "to see all" (hence the name "Awareness" in fan translations and the eye icon) and "to abandon" (hence the English name's reference to nothingness).[1] |
