Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light

The Geosphere (Japanese: 大地のオーブ Earth Orb), later known as Vert (Japanese: 碧炎 Green Flame) in the era of Ylisse,[1] is an item that appears in the Fire Emblem series.

Appearing only in games set on Archanea, the Geosphere's original usage was to deal damage to every unit on the map excluding its wielder. Mystery of the Emblem gave the Geosphere an additional usage, to boost the accuracy and critical rate of units nearby its wielder even when broken and unable to utilize its primary usage. Book 2 of Mystery of the Emblem has it already broken when obtained, and New Mystery of the Emblem similarly has it only boost the critical rate of units near its wielder.

At some time after the Schism and the breakage of the Fire Emblem, the Geosphere—now called Vert—entered the possession of the Chon'sin royal family and remained with them until it was looted by the forces of the Valmese Empire under Walhart.[2] Vert was recovered from Valm after Walhart's defeat, and Say'ri entrusted it to Chrom of Ylisse for his mission to restore the Fire Emblem.

Trivia

  • The colors of the Starsphere and Geosphere were swapped in the DS remakes; in Mystery of the Emblem, the Geosphere is green and the Starsphere is blue, while the Starphere is green and the Geosphere is blue in Shadow Dragon and New Mystery of the Emblem. Awakening reverts them to their original colors.
