Role

Artur appears in Chapter 4, sent by villagers to help cleanse the forest of monsters. He warns Eirika and Seth to leave, but they decide to help him. After the chapter is over, he sadly tells them that these monsters that have appeared are from the legends of long ago. He then joins the group along with Lute.

Personality and character

Artur is a very religious and polite monk. He is easily scared; for example, in his C support with Lute, he states that she has pulled many pranks, such as replacing a bookmark with the end of a lizard's tail and releasing spiders in his room. He is willing to help others, as shown in Neimi's support conversations, where he helps her find her mother's mirror. Artur is also quite bashful and easily persuaded, shown in his conversations with Tethys and Joshua.

Artur and Lute are originally from the Za'ha Woods, which becomes overrun with monsters of ancient legends in Chapter 4. In his A support with Neimi, he states the reason he became a monk. After finding her mirror, he draws a parallel to a story from his childhood when he had lost a toy. At the time, most only saw a child crying over a petty trinket; however, a monk saw, in Artur's words, a "sad and lost soul, crying out in need". Although he found that a friend had taken it without notice, he felt extremely grateful that the monk had spent so much time to comfort him, and to honor the monk, he decided to become a monk himself.

In his A support conversation with Tethys, he says his mother used to call him "child" when he was younger.

Endings

Artur, Saint of Light
Artur moved to Renais to help rebuild the shattered country. He worked without rest to ease the pain and grief of those who suffered during the war. His self-sacrifice made him into a folk hero among the peasantry.

Artur and Lute
Artur and Lute were married upon their return. Artur handled the housework, but otherwise, their lives were unchanged. When they had a son, Lute's interests shifted from studying Artur to studying her son's baffling habits.

Etymology

Artur is a variant of the name Arthur. Arthur is a Celtic name, usually used in honor of King Arthur, who led a band of knights called the "Knights of the Round Table". This name could have come from "artos", which is the Celtic word for "bear" or the Irish Gaelic word for "stone".
