Great Shield, also known as Cancel and Pavise (大盾, Ōdate, Great Shield), is a combat skill which debuted in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. In all appearances, when activated, it protects the user from a single attack by nullifying the damage dealt. However, its availability has wildly varied from game to game.

In Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, Great Shield/Pavise is a personal skill, and in the latter can be equipped to any unit. In Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War, Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 and Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, Great Shield is a class skill belonging to Generals and similar classes, and in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Cancel is the mastery skill of the Hawk laguz.
