IV: Light's Sacrifice is the fourth part of the six-part downloadable content Heirs of Fate saga of FE14. While it bears the Roman numeral IV denoting its status within the Heirs of Fate saga, it does not officially bear a chapter number in relation to DLC chapters as a whole; if all DLC chapters are purchased and its list is viewed at the Dragon's Gate, IV: Light's Sacrifice is the eighteenth one from the top in the North American version of the game. IV: Light's Sacrifice is part of the third series of Japanese DLC releases and the second series of international DLC releases.

This chapter was first made available on March 23, 2016 in Japan, May 26, 2016 in North America, and July 28-29 in the PAL regions.

In this chapter, Siegbert, wielding his father's legendary sword, reluctantly leads his group back into action after close calls against similar Vallite foes, and ultimately gets help from his cousin's group. Later on, the narrator jumps into the picture for himself and reveals the truth about what's been going on for the first four chapters of the arc, a truth that threatens to play straight into their mutual enemy's hands.

Briefly recapping one event from the previous chapter, a narrator begins to explain the plight of a Nohrian prince thinking it prudent to withdraw his forces in the face of the might of the Blazing Yato, hesitant to press another attack while worrying about his wounded allies; the narrator states that the prince is unaware that he will never find the truth without taking up arms.

We cut to the inside of a castle where Siegbert asks if anyone else was seriously hurt, to which Soleil denies and Ignatius states he's glad nobody died and asks just who were the mysterious foe they were fighting; Velouria states that things appeared to be that the enemy got bored and left, after which Percy states that they were lucky to make it through the ordeal, believing that none of them would have made it through had the enemy kept at it. Siegbert apologizes to the group and states that he's to blame for what went down, stating that the ordeal would have never happened if he hadn't strayed too close to the enemy; Ignatius states it appeared strange for Siegbert to put the group in harm's way and asks him if he couldn't tell that they even were the very enemies that attacked them in the first place, to which Siegbert confirms. Siegbert then states that it was hard to see the enemy as enemies, as he saw a strange light emitted by a blade and bow and notes the light seemed reassuring, after which Soleil notes that the wielders of said blade and bow then turned those weapons against them and deduces that the fight was a trick to get Siegbert to give up; Siegbert states that he doesn't see what their next move is, and states that the kingdom must be in an uproar with his father gone. Percy suggests that they run recon, stating that he could learn a lot from a dragon's-eye view, to which Ignatius states is a good idea as they could get the drop on their enemy, after which Siegbert suggests that they not exert themselves any more than they must; Ignatius asks Siegbert if he doesn't think they can win, to which Velouria deduces that Siegbert's tired and suggests that the group wait where they are and leave the fighting to someone else—the king of Nohr going missing is a big deal and it doesn't have to be this group who goes searching for him and she's sure someone will get to it, but it won't be them as they don't even know which end of a sword is up. Percy then inquires as to what happens if there is nobody else and assumes it would be up to their group to save the day, to which Velouria denies—she's heard the sounds of fighting for awhile as they speak, and this should come as a relief since they now know they're not the only ones in the area; Ignatius states that the other group could use their help, to which Siegbert remains skeptical and Soleil deduces that he wouldn't be coming with them. Siegbert states that he'll see the rest of the group off but states that they barely survived their last battle and he has little confidence that they can win this one, to which Velouria states she's behind Siegbert—as bad as her death would be, Siegbert's death would be even worse as he's next in line for the crown if has indeed died; the group then proceeds to tell similar stories as to how their respective fathers protected them as they proceeded to escape their Deeprealms, after which Velouria and Soleil begin to argue over what's best for Siegbert with Soleil insisting that he join them and that he's actually the most willing to fight of any of them. Siegbert continues to express reluctance to join the fray, as he'd be a disgrace to his father and the entire Nohrian royal family should he act out of self-interest and they all meet a bloody end; this leads to an argument between Siegbert and Soleil, after which Siegbert finally admits he's willing to join the fray, then proceeds to rally his group into action—admitting that while his father may be gone, his father's sword is still around.

We cut to a forest, where Forrest and his group—Ophelia, Nina, Kana, Dwyer, and Sophie—are facing a group of Vallite adversaries, to which Forrest notes to them being relentless—as soon as Forrest's group attempts to retreat, the Vallites pursue, to which Forrest asks why the Vallites could be following them; Kana states that this ordeal appears to never end and that they can't give up yet. The Vallites suddenly retreat, to which Kana assumes they changed their minds about fighting, to which Forrest states that another group is approaching from the southwest and deduces the Vallites are opting to hunt easier prey; Kana notes that the other group is in danger and they have to go after them, to which Forrest denies—their group could use a breather to prepare themselves, and that they should still have plenty of time to join up with the other group afterward. Kana states that Forrest has a good point, as they'd simply hurt themselves worse if they just rushed in and calls for everyone to hang back for the moment; as everyone other than Forrest retreats, Forrest spots Siegbert and apologizes to him, stating that they'll come to his aid soon enough and tells him to hold out until then. Cutting over to another area, Siegbert spots Forrest to which Soleil notices, after which Siegbert deduces that his eyes are playing tricks on him; Siegbert then states that if his eyes saw true, then they'd best be served linking up their forces together and that Forrest's groups could fill in some of the gaps for them. After a shift of scene to what appears to be a Hoshidan-style wall, the battle begins.

After a shift of scene to what appears to be a Hoshidan-style wall, the battle begins.

Forrest's group appear at the end of turn 3 enemy phase. Upon Forrest and Siegbert speaking with one another, Siegbert states that he thought he recognized Forrest, after which Forrest states he's glad to see Siegbert hale and hearty; Siegbert then asks where Leo is, to which Forrest has trouble finding words yet Siegbert is able to deduce the meaning. Siegbert then asks what could have driven the Vallites to start this war, then asks Forrest if he's learned anything, to which Forrest denies—Forrest also states that however far they run toward safety, the Vallites hound them every step of the way, and deduces that one would think the Vallites were out to capture them. Forrest also notes that the Vallites are not quite heedlessly following orders, that the way they act suggests they could have wills of their own, to which Siegbert states that they should find out what the Vallites have to say for themselves, and that their forces together should make this a simple task, to which Forrest states he'll inform the rest of his group that their numbers have grown; once Forrest leaves, Siegbert then mulls over the thought of the Vallites being out to capture them, and thinks up the possiblity that the Vallites may really want to speak with them as much as they want to speak to the Vallites and wonders if they really even are enemies at all. Forrest and the rest of his group are now controllable at this point.

Siegbert asks the others if they saw what he saw, as their enemy looked normal for just a moment, and their enemy looked to be humans roughly their own ages; the male Kana appears to be on the start of a rampage where he intends to kill the enemy, stating that the enemy ranks have to die. Forrest asks the male Kana what's gotten into him, to which the male Kana states that his head hurt when he got a good look at the enemy and states that it doesn't matter—they're the ones who attacked his home and took his mother, and that none of this ordeal would have happened if it wasn't for them. The male Kana and the Vallite Nohr Princess then both transform into their dragon forms to Siegbert's horror, with the male Kana roaring loudly; Forrest states that the dragonstone was supposed to keep the male Kana's dragon form under control, then tells the male Kana that he must not hurt the Vallites, with Siegbert likewise asking the male Kana to stand down. A surprise offscreen voice sings part of Lost in Thoughts All Alone, with Siegbert asking who's doing the singing; the offscreen voice tells the male Kana that the urge to kill isn't his, and tells the male Kana to let the urge go and return to them. The offscreen voice flies onto the scene, revealing himself to be Shigure, the narrator from earlier, with both the male Kana and the Vallite Nohr Princess transforming back to their human states; the male Kana asks what has happened, to which Shigure states that both the male Kana and the Vallite Nohr Princess have regained themselves, after which Kana and Shigure introduce themselves to one another. Shigure tells the group that they're still trapped in an illusion, then asks the group if the Vallites really are their hated enemies and if they truly deserve to die, telling them to think carefully and they'll find that they already know the truth; the male Kana deduces that he shouldn't be fighting the Vallites and asks why he ever saw them as enemies, after which Siegbert states that the Vallites are humans who carry divine weapons like they are and thus have everything in common. Forrest states that something tells him these Vallites are not the ones who attacked their Deeprealms and that he fears that they've all allowed themselves to be used as pawns in someone else's game, to which Shigure confirms, then states that he'll dispense with the illusion entirely. The illusion is broken to reveal the scene seen briefly when the male Kana attacked with the Shadow Yato, with the Vallites once again being seen as the Hoshidan children.

Once the illusion is broken, both Kanas again recognize each other, with the female Kana also deducing the male Kana as being of similar mixed heritage; Shiro then states that he knew something was off about this ordeal and asks why the ordeal happened and where they are, to which Shigure states that they're in Valla, a country Shiro states , to which Shigure states that everyone's been in Valla since leaving their Deeprealms. Kiragi states that they clearly weren't in Valla, as he was standing inside a Nohrian castle just a second prior and that there was a dragon where the male Kana was standing, then asks his group to back him up and state he's not crazy; Siegbert states that what Kiragi stated was not what he remembers, as he remembers standing at the Great Wall in Hoshido, not in any Nohrian palace or anywhere in Valla. Shigure states that Kiragi's and Siegbert's accounts are the illusion at work, as they remain in Valla while seeing visions of another world, all part of the enemy's scheme to have the Hoshidans and Nohrians kill each other; Siegbert asks Shigure if what he stated was their aim all along, to which Shigure states that everyone has escaped the trap no worse for wear, then states that they should find safer ground where he can explain everything with more detail.

A short time later, it is revealed that the true enemy is Anankos, the dragon god of Valla, whose plan was to destroy all of the Deeprealms and everyone within them, but has had to move on to a second phase due to the children surviving; the talk afterward is again about everyone's spotty memories, with even Shigure appearing to have forgotten stuff. Shigure then states that Anankos intended to steal everyone's memories, sense of duty, and everything else, thus bending them to his will, and that everyone is safe from these effects now but that the memories may never return, and that the best chance at restoring everyone's memories is to defeat Anankos; the group starts to all introduce themselves, but only the Kanas, Caeldori, and Siegbert get their introductions in before an argument breaks out. The argument that breaks out is over just who is ruling over Hoshido and Nohr; as Siegbert introduces himself as the son of King Xander of Nohr, Hisame insists that Leo is the king of Nohr, to which Forrest states he'd know if that were the case, Hisame further stating that Xander and Elise died in the war with Siegbert insisting Hisame is mistaken. Forrest then asks Hisame for clarification as to Hinoka being the queen of Hoshido, to which Shiro states that Ryoma is the Hoshidan king; Forrest then asks Shiro if Takumi survived the war, to which Kiragi states that Takumi would have to have survived the war or else he wouldn't be present, with Forrest states that his account had Ryoma and Takumi both dying in the war. The argument continues for a short while longer, with Shiro implying Leo killed Ryoma while Siegbert implies Hinoka killing Xander, before Shigure steps in and tells Shiro and Siegbert they're both wrong—they're assuming everbody came from the same world when, in fact, they came from two different contradictory worlds; after a shocked reaction from the male Kana and the female Kana asking Shigure if that reason is why there's two Yatos on the scene, Shigure confirms that this is the case—two versions of a singular blade should be all the proof they need, and he would have told everyone sooner but he thought it might become confusing. Shigure then states that those that came with the female Kana, the Hoshidan children, came from a world where Hoshido won the war, while those that came with the male Kana, the Nohrian children, came from a world where Nohr won the war; as Shiro and Siegbert mull over this revelation, the male Kana asks if they really were enemies, to which Shigure states he won't deny that their parents were at war with one another, but it's often the case that events happen differently in different worlds, yet everyone here has the same goal. Shiro and Siegbert then resume their arguing, this time implying their respective versions of Ryoma and Xander killing the other's respective versions of their counterpart, with Kiragi even chiming in that Takumi could have done the deed and Forrest asking Kiragi put the Fujin Yumi away to be on the safe side; as Shiro and Siegbert part ways, Shigure notes that the situation has gotten out of hand, and if the children can't work together, they're doing Anankos's work for him.

* Forrest's team initially appears as a green NPC faction under the name "Nohr Army". Upon the team being recruited, instead of simply increasing the numbers of the player's "Nohr Army" faction up to 11, they instead become a second blue player faction under the name "<Avatar>'s Army".
