It is the third and last game released on the Game Boy Advance, and the second game released outside of Japan, preceded by Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword. Plot

Prologue: The Fall of Renais

In the castle of Renais, a messenger appears and alerts King Fado that troops from Grado have breached the walls. Fearing the safety of his daughter, King Fado sends Seth, one of his paladins to take Eirika away. On his way out, Seth is attacked by Valter and damaged considerably, but manages to still run away with Eirika. When they stop to rest they are attacked by local bandits. Seth (after being healed by a Vulnerary) and Eirika manage to defeat them and flee.
