Archanea, known in Europe as Akaneia, is the continent on which five of the Fire Emblem games (Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem, and Fire Emblem: Archanea Saga) take place. It is home to several kingdoms, most of them founded by the heroes of the first liberation war against Dollhr.

Locations

The Kingdom of Archanea

The largest and oldest country on the continent, founded by Adrah. Its capital is Pales, referred to as "the palace" in the official localization. Two notable people of Archanea were Princess Artemis, Adrah's heir, and Duke Cartas, one of the Three Heroes of the Liberation Wars. Princess Nyna is their descendant. After the events of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, Nyna marries Prince Hardin of Aurelis, combining the kingdoms. At the end of Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, after Hardin's death, Marth ascends the throne.

Altea

Founded by the hero Anri, slayer of Medeus and one of the Three Heroes of the Liberation Wars. It and Gra were originally one country, but when Anri died with no heirs, the kingdom in two; his younger brother Marcelus ruled over Altea, while a faction unhappy with Marcelus's rule left and founded Gra, though the two kingdoms always kept on good terms with one another. Marth is descended from Marcelus, and is therefore Anri's indirect descendant. After Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, it is assumed into Archanea by Marth's assumption of the throne. Its capital is Anri.

Gra

Originally part of Altea, formed by a radical faction after rows with Altea's succession. At the beginning of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light, it was ruled by King Jiol. After the events of the game, his daughter Sheema succeeds the throne, but she later abdicates rule to King Marth.

Aurelis

Founded by Marlon, brother of Duke Cartas. Prince Hardin and his brother are his descendants. It is assumed into the Kingdom of Archanea after Hardin's marriage to Princess Nyna.

Macedon

Founded by Iote. It is famous for its fleet of Pegasus Knights and Dracoknights, especially the order of the Whitewings. It was ruled by king Osmond until his death at the hands of his son, Prince Michalis. Michalis is killed in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light (though in Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem he is instead rescued from death by Princess Maria), and Princess Minerva assumes the throne. At the end of Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, Minerva abdicates the throne to Marth.

Talys

A relatively new country, home to King Mostyn and Princess Caeda. When Caeda marries Marth at the end of Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, Talys is assumed into the new Kingdom of Archanea.

Dolhr

Founded by Medeus. It is home to manaketes who were tired of the abuse they received from humans. It is defeated by Marth in both Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light and Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem.

Khadein

Founded by the White Sage Gotoh, who was originally a member of the Divine Dragon clan. It is a desert country, and it is renowned for its skilled mages. The sorcerer Gharnef and Pontifex Miloah both hail from this country and were instructed by Gotoh himself.

Grust

Founded by General Ordwin, one of the Three Heroes of the Liberation Wars, who conquered the region of barbarians and turned it into a kingdom. His descendants are Ludwik and his children, Yumina and Yubello. It is famed for its military power, especially with its Sable Order of Knights, led by General Camus.

Galder

The peninsula north of Archanea that is not governed by any particular country. It is home to Galder Harbor, as well as the Soothsire Bandits of the Samsooth Mountains (also known as the Ghoul's Teeth).

Pyrathi

A small island kingdom ruled by King Mannu. It is very isolated from the outside world, and is not welcoming to outsiders.

Marmotord

The "Desert of Death" that covers the northwestern portion of the continent. Anri visited it on his legendary quest to obtain the Falchion. It is unclaimed and uninhabited save for by various barbarians and Wyvern Dragons.

  • Thabes was an ancient city that now lies buried underneath the sands of Marmotord. It is supposedly the final resting place of Naga.

Ice Dragon Temple

The original resting place of the sword Falchion, until Anri was led there by Gotoh to claim it to defeat Medeus. Marth later visited the temple in Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem to obtain the Lightsphere, fuse together the Starsphere shards, and recruit Tiki. It is located in the northeastern section of the continent.

Chiasmir

An island just north of Grust. At an ancient city called Raman lies the famous Fane of Raman, which is the temple in which Tiki slept until being awakened in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light.
