Strategy

This section details unofficial strategies that may help with completion of the chapter. This may not work for everybody.

Note the Mercenary in the top left corner of the map. He's packing a Leather Shield, giving him twice as much Defense as any other enemy on the map. If you did not promote one of your Villagers to a Mage in the Thieves' Shrine, you are going to pay for that now. You unlock battle preparations this chapter, so make good use of that. Either Tobin or Kliff should be a Mage right now, so put them both in the leftmost deployment slots. Lukas should be to the far right, Gray to his left, and the girls in the middle.

On turn 1, have Tobin and Kliff start making their way north across the mountains to intercept the Mercenary. Send everyone else east. All of the enemies will start advancing. On turn 2, place Lukas inside the enemy's attack range and have everyone else keep advancing in their respective directions. During the enemy phase, Lukas will get mobbed by two Brigands and an Archer.

On turn 3, have Alm and Lukas finish the wounded Brigands. Have Gray wound the Archer, have Faye heal Lukas, and have Silque heal Faye. Keep moving Tobin and Kliff north. The enemies will mob Gray, while some stray baddies will attack Alm and Silque.

On turn 4, Tobin and Kliff can finally start attacking the Mercenary. Have Lukas kill the Archer and have Alm move into the forest to kill the Brigand that Gray wounded. Have Gray pull back; if he can attack someone safely, he may do so. Have Silque heal Gray and have Faye heal Silque. Try to keep your Clerics away from danger. During the enemy phase, Silque will need to land a Nosferatu in order to survive. If she whiffs it, it's Turnwheel time. You will also need your mage to land his hits on the Mercenary. The enemies will start attacking Alm, Lukas, and your mage.

By turn 5, all of the enemies will be pretty badly beaten except for the level 6 Brigand. Start by finishing off the Mercenary with your mage. Next, have Alm kill the level 6 Brigand. Have Lukas wound the Archer (if you can block off some of the remaining Brigands from your back line, great). Move Silque next to Alm, trade his Iron Sword to Silque, and kill one of the remaining Brigands. Have Gray take the sword and kill the Archer. Then have Faye heal Gray. The turn should end with all of the enemies running like chickens. On turn 6, have Alm, Lukas, and Gray finish the baddies.
