Due to initiation attacks being far more valuable in this game than in any Fire Emblem game, bows are a potent weapon type, and Shirrock's unique traits allow him to use them more effectively than any other bow user. Shirrock is one of only two mounted units that can use bows, the other being {{Saga|Christine}} who is considerably worse for using bows in many ways. Shirrock not only can move up to 7 spaces and attack from 2 range, he also can {{Saga|Move Again}} afterward, and his light cavalry movement allows him to move through rough terrain, such as forests and shoals, more quickly than any other mounted type.
