Quixotic

Describes behaviour which is noble, flamboyant, and chivalric to a delusional extent, with no regard for practicality or the reality of the situation. The word is derived from Don Quixote, a 17th-century novel by Spanish author Miguel de Cervantes, whose titular protagonist behaved in this way.
